Dave Kahle is a Master Cicerone, AHA member, BJCP judge, GABF judge, and panelist at the Beverage Testing Institute (BTI) in Chicago. Most recently he has been the Craft Beer Manager for distributor, BreakThru Beverage of Illinois, where he worked for 6 years. Dave joined Wirtz Beverage at the inception of it’s Illinois beer division taking on a multifaceted role in building the segment within an established wine and spirits house.

As Wirtz transitioned to BreakThru, he continued this role leading beer education for all of BreakThru’s markets, creating beer training materials and platforms, teaching all three tiers, onboarding suppliers, augmenting beer selling teams, and working closely with the beverage development and data analytics groups within the company.

Dave continues to work for the Cicerone Certification Program as an exam assessor and consultant. He has been an instructor at the Siebel Institute in Chicago, since 2013. Dave has been a featured speaker at the National Restaurant Association shows, the Wholesalers Symposium of the Craft Brewers Conference, and also the National Beer Wholesalers Conference.

He has earned certificates from the Siebel Institute/World Brewing Academy, in Brewing Technology, Sensory Panel Management, and Brewing Microbiology, as well as having an Advanced Draft Tech certificate from the Micro Matic Draft Institute. Dave also holds

a WSET Level 2 Spirits certification, passing
