Otitis externa is an inflammation of the external auditory canal from the pinna to the tympanic membrane commonly observed in dogs and sometimes in cats. Clinical signs include inflammation, soreness and pain, foul odor, ear discharge, ear scratching, and head shaking. Chronic cases can lead to closure of the ear canal, chronic pain and deafness.
