On this episode, Izzy and Mike are joined by a dear close friend, an Air Force veteran, a person whose passion is photography, but most importantly, a person that faced his demons and was able to overcome and is now living a life of sobriety from drugs and alcohol, Matthew Porter. Matthew shares his story from life of adversity to bouncing back and changed his life to a positive one. Matthew discusses his downfall in the Air Force after failing a urinalysis, the hardship he felt when having to return home and feeling like an embarrassment and letting those important in his life down. Matthew talks about how when you go looking for the devil, the devil will show up, and how the devil led him to succumb to alcohol and drugs as his vices to cope with the negativity that was occurring in his life. After being told numerous times of being an alcoholic, a drug addict, basically has been overcome with addiction, Matt knew it was time for a change or face death. It took one phone call and a prayer to God for Matt to find his path to Alcoholics Anonymous and face his fear of admitting that he had a problem. From there Matt has turned his negative into a positive and lives a life of sobriety for 18 years and still going strong. Matt truly epitomizes that as a veteran you may feel isolated with no one to help, but it is up to you to make that decision between life or death, for with life there is so much more to live for, and his testimony is proof to that revelation. #addiction #addictionrecovery #veteranpodcast
