On this show we review the protests from the weekend and share clips, important clips, that we have found on NPR and You Tube about other perspectives from today and from the past about what is going on in the United States as people WITH MASKS brave the pandemic to have their voices heard. The murder of George Floyd after Ahmaud Arbery and Breona Taylor has brought people into the streets.  It is time for systemic change for a  radical overhaul of systems.  It is time to end the systemic racism in the United States.  Harvey, Tom,  and Jim discuss the protests and then special guest Timothy Hughes of Equity Alliance shows us a positive way to respond.

As the nation suffers a 911 of deaths every day from Covid, as the nation races toward twice the death toll of Vietnam, we reflect on Memorial day. This is clearly not the time for bunting and American flags. This is a time for reflection on what has happened not only in the wars we can name but the war against covid.

Harvey joined a zoom presentation and discussion by six of the seven Kingsbay Peace Activists. The 7th is in jail. They all await sentencing on May 28/29th for advocating for peace and demonstrating at the Kingsbay Naval Base near Savannah Georgia. That Naval base is the home to nuclear armed Trident submarines. The activists were there to just point out the futility of nuclear war and nuclear weapons.

After remembering the anniversaries of the Kent State and Jackson State murders, we realized that their impact, while often subtle, is with us today in all aspects of our culture. Using the clips of the reflections of scholars and activists as produced by Project Censored, we re-examin the long effects of the actions of both the peace activists and students and the long arm of the state. We finally realize the students were on the right side of history.

This is part one of a two part show remembering and celebrating John Prine, singer, song writer, poet, philosopher, icon. He passed away last week from Covid 19. You will hear personal stories from other members of Veterans for Peace as they remember John Prine and of course songs, lots of songs.

In  this two part show we first hear from Tina Meli, Veterans for Peace  member and VA employee who likely contracted covid but while suffering  was unable to get a test. Then we hear from Michelle Shaw, author and  blogger, who describes the un-relenting greed and opportunism of  corporate America.
