We are excited and honored to have Dr. Sally Perea in the studio. It is rare to have the opportunity to interview a Veterinary Nutritionist. There are not many Veterinary Nutritionists in the world. And she took the time to come to our studio and help all of us to understand pet diets.
Sally is also the co-host along with her husband Curtis, of the fantastic podcast, Arise and Shine. Arise, and Shine is a daily devotional podcast where they read a portion of scripture, then discuss what stood out to them and apply it to their day to day growth. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/arise-and-abide/id1493077635

In this episode, she considered all types of diets, raw, grain, homemade, allergy, and answered the top questions we get on diets and nutrition for pets.
So what is true about pet food diets. It is complicated but listen to what Dr. Perea has to say.
**The one thing we learned and worth noting is to always look for the AAFCO statement on the pet food package. This is critical. AAFCO establishes standards or models for regulations aimed at ensuring that manufacturers provide clear, accurate, and consistent information about animal feed, including pet food.
** The other truth worth noting is marketing, blog, commercials, etc. have all outpaced research, so be careful what you read and hear about pet nutrition.
Dr. Beall and Dr. Chip discuss over 40 years of experience with tremors and seizures in pets. Seizures are scary for the pet owners and dangerous for the pet. What should we do if our pet has a seizure? What is happening to a pet having a seizure? What are breeds more prone to seizures? What about poisonings, do they cause seizures? There are so many questions about seizures. But what do we do and what should we know if our pet is having a seizure? Join the discussion, you will find this to be a very interesting episode.
Pet discovery of the week: Messy Mutts drying MATTS (not towels).
messy mutt mats. We love this product. Make sure you pick the MATT and not the towel. We bought this from Pet People in Springboro. Pet People Springboro. We love this Matt and have trained our pets to go to it each time they come inside from outside. This has matt has captured an amazing amount of dirt BEFORE they walk through the house.

Dr. Chip and Dr. Beall have a few interesting theories on this. Dr. Beall made a video that will help explain the answer to this question further. Why do Cats Purr
How long do cats live?
Cat’s amaze me. They can live for a long time. But life expectancy depends on many things, including one crucial factor - whether your cat is an indoor-only cat or an outdoor cat. Indoor cats generally live from 12-18 years of age. Many may live to be in their early 20s. Outdoor cats sadly, live to be 4-6 years on average. The oldest living feline, according to the Guinness book of world records, was a cat named Crème Puff, who lived to be 38 years and 3 days old.
