The 2010s! It is a decade that is filled with so many great moments in my life. But one of greatest things that I got watch unfold and be a small part of was the Sega Genesis/Megadrive Chiptune Scene! Where before it was possible to simulate the sound through sampling or VSTs and the only authentic way was through MML, a tracker program called VGM Music Maker that emulated the sytems soundchips was released. Discovered by 3 friends, they helped to open the flood gates for all who wished to create their own music using the FM sounds of their nostagia, and be able to play it back on the system of said nostalgia! So join me as I highlight 5 chiptunist (Jredd, Cosmo BG, Groovemaster 303, Game Genie Sokolov and Dya) that contributed greatly to this scene and pushed the limits of the YM2612!
