Photograph’s that Pat had taken at a number of haunted locations were most recently on display at the 606 State Street Gallery, Bristol, Tennessee.

During a lifetime spent pursuing answers to one of life’s most complex questions, “what happens after death,” she has traveled to some of the country’s most renowned haunted locations. It is at these sites that she photographs scenes showcasing the elusive essence created by the energy of spirits who are unwilling or unable to give up lives past lived. Her book, Thirty True Tales of the Weird, Unusual and Macabre: From the Notebooks of the Paranormal Journalist, for which renowned author Rosemary Ellen Guiley wrote the foreword, was released in 2013. She released an audiobook, Unlocking Your Psychic Potential, that same year.

Denise is a New Orleans born, native Creole raised in the unique culture of New Orleans, Louisiana and has studied indigenous healing traditions from a personal and academic perspective for over four decades. She has an M.S. in Professional Psychology from Walden University and a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from Northern Arizona University. An independent researcher, Denise is founder of the American Rootwork Association and a member of the American Anthropological Association and the Association of Indigenous Anthropologists as well as several special interest groups. She is Editor in Chief of Hoodoo & Conjure magazine, the Hoodoo Almanacs, Gumbo Ya Ya and the Journal Of American Rootwork, as well as a series of books that focus on folk magic traditions from the American South.
