Vibe Union Podcast

Get paid doing what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life...

or alternatively, turning your passion into a job can suck the life out of it....

Different ways of thinking about things, and a journey most of us go on. Luckily, our guest Jack, is loving his job as a videographer!

Which one gives you a bigger leg up as an artist starting out? Ok, we actually spend most of this time talking about drugs, but it's a good episode.

This week, we're honoured to welcome three amazing guest hosts, Shy, Hawraa and Yaru! Hosts and poets of our fundraiser night, 'Poets for Palestine'. This is a lovely conversation around political poetry and the purpose of art in activism.

Obviously, we're big believers in a DIY attitude. But how big is the leap when you get the chance to work in more professional environments? And how do you prepare to make that transition?

How have you found that transition if you've made it yourself?

Today's guest: Shy https://www.instagram.com/shyreesays/

It can be daunting working in spaces centred around sensitive or divisive topics, and so we had a chat with Shy about our tactics. How careful should you be? Or rather, how ready to be humbled should you be?

For the time Vibe Union has been running events, we tend to run them as ongoing series. We love this as it allows events to grow over time and form a community around them. However, sometimes you can feel when one has run its course. But we always have to fight that feeling that somehow it 'failed' if it ends.

It can be a strange feeling to market/sell your music that is written about extremely personal topics. Especially for musicians who find the act of releasing music stress-inducing at the best of times.

We also dive into the world of review culture and more.

Should we be more considerate of the odds of success as artists? Does it just drag you down? Or does blatantly ignoring the odds set you up for a sense of failure?
