Released in 2004, Lonely was more than just a global sensation but also a household anthem played repeated even by people who had no idea what he was saying. I remember still being a child during that period, I could barely sing the song at all but I did know how to respond to the lyrics whenever it popped up on the radio, television or the CD my elder sister bought.

The song represents a big part of my childhood and still has a strong hold on my person. At the fundamental level, it simply expresses mistakes made by the artist towards his significant other pushing her to leave the house while he is still asleep. This breaks him down after realizing that the whole problem was entirely his fault and he needs to correct his mistakes, make up for everything so that she can come back to him.

It is never easy for people to admit their errors especially with issues relating to love but the artist was not blinded this letting himself go completely so that things will go back to normal and even get an upgrade as long as he can eradicate this loneliness he is currently experiencing.

The has it all - incredible lyrics, good vocals from vocals, storytelling and that replay factor that keeps bringing you back and I am grateful it was a big part of my childhood.
