Ever since I came back home from my service in Ondo state, Sundays have been quite a snooze fest here. It's been super difficult trying to adapt to the neighborhood I once grew up in and for some reason I started having doubts about coming back home. I once had a Sunday hobby of going out with friends to have a good time as often as I can but right now I can't even do that anymore. This is because a large percentage of folks in my friend group are not even around anymore so it's like I'm just by myself. The lifestyle I have grown accustomed to was not something I had access to and it was slowly transforming to a version of myself I left behind two years ago. However this Sunday I vowed to do something different, I decided I'd go out for a change even if it's just around - somewhere close and maybe have a great time while I'm at it.


While I was still trying to think of a place to go relax and maybe enjoy myself, I got a call from an old friend who had been away for over three years now. She told me she just got back not too long ago and was hoping we could catch up today. Feeling like this must be fate at work, I told her I was even planning on stepping out for a change of pace and we should just use that opportunity to meet up. I quickly took my bath, got dressed in my favorite red shirt and left the house to go reconnect with a homie.


Her place was not that far from mine so I arrived there 30 minutes after leaving home. We got some drinks talked for a bit and since the weather was soothing, decided to go for a stroll. The stroll was actually the best decision we made because we ended up discovering a park that we never existed around the place. It had slides, monkey bar, a swing and even a seesaw. It was like a play ground for kids and also a relaxation spot for adults with the best part of it all was that the place was open 24/7 for free. Seeing as we both had the same idea in mind, we both went in and started trying every fun activity we could get our hands on. I was having so much fun that at one point I even forgot I was no longer a child.


While we were so lost in fun, a young girl came into the park as well and joined in on it. This little girl turned what was just an ordinary chill time into a competition and seeing as my reputation as on the line I choose to show her who the bigger man was. I lost multiple times before finally giving up. The day seemed like it wasn't going to end untill, the sky darkened and signs of rain forced us to leave the place. We were still on our way home when the rained started pouring down heavily. Running home while you try to protect your phone from getting wet is more difficult than it sounds but we just had to do it regardless.

I got back home with one of the best feelings ever. I now have a new spot to go detox and one things for certain, I'll be going back next Sunday.

Love is timeless and because of that we don't have a particular period when it should be celebrated more. However since this is the Valentine's period which is regarded as a day of lovers, presenting a song about two love birds doesn't sound like such a bad idea afterall.

Put it up is a song from two actual lovers describing what their romantic life is all about and what true love represents from each of their perspectives. Fear should be the least of their worries as each individual promises to give it their 100 percent until You & I becomes US. I am still surprised I still remember the lyrics to this particular song despite not listening to it for quite some time now. If there's one thing I have always trusted it is a collaboration between Ghana and Nigeria all thanks to these three great artists. R2bees and Wizkid redefined what it truly means to break country boundaries and everything they touched together turned into a massive hit. Tonight is just like the name implies , giving your all to the partner at the end of the day. It gets super raw super fast. Well well well guess we are at it again, another week to showcase artistry at its peak. Hello everyone welcome once again to another of the hive open mic. I am coderaikiri and for my entry today I'll be presenting a song cover to seasons in the sun by none other than one of the greatest boy band to ever walk the twenty first century- Westlife.... So stay tuned and let's get in the groove real quick.

The theme for the week is THE CHILDREN and so I chose to present this song. On the outside this song has nothing in common with the theme but if you look beyond the service, you'll find out that they both have a lot in common. The first thing I told myself before recording the video was confirming that no one loves the sun more than children so this song is literally for them. In the third verse, one of the singers literally said "little children everywhere, when you see them I'll be there" further solidifying my perspective. The first verse even starts with : "Goodbye to you my trusted friend, we've known each other since we were 9 or 10" highlighting a childhood fond memory where both parties had good times together....

I will never forget the Saturday afternoon my elder sister came back home excited and brimming with energy all for a song. According to her she just heard the song of the century at her friend's place. The song not only mesmerized her but the fact that her friend could mimic the voice of the artiste made her love it even more and so she googled the song, downloaded it on her phone back then and listened to it every single day till she had every word memorized like the alphabets. She didn't stop there, the song was made her ringtone and that was how my torment began until I subconsciously learned the song as well... The boy in me is always active when this song pops up. That's because I hated the song because of the video and for some reason the artiste didn't seem cool enough to me. But as maturity crawled in, I found the sound more alluring as I now understood the lyrics even more.

So sick is not a love song like we are always used to listening to. It is one that tells the life of a man trying to move on from a failed relationship. He is trying to forget the fun memories, fighting to get used to the fact that he no longer has someone to call when he's lonely or even to celebrate fun times with . Hello everyone welcome to the two hundred and second edition of Afritunes. I am @ coderaikiri and for this week my entry will be a song cover to party monster by Ruger and BUJU aka BNXN.

2024 was full of surprises and shocking events . After losing a headies award to BUJU, Ruger displayed his displeasure with the results by going on social media to call out the supposed partiality and shade his rival. The two went at it for months making it seem like they would never squash this beef. A friend of mine told me that this controversy was just a tool to get attention from the public because the two will definitely use a collaboration to settle things out. This looked like an impossibility until a few months later when these two not only did a collaboration together but an entire Extended Playlist of over 5 songs. These songs were not average, they were all bangers which can be seen as a testament of pouring both heart and soul into their crafts.

Party monster is a part of that massive EP. It is a song meant for people who love to party, have a good time and vibe to life. The song is literally my favourite on that EP even if it did not start off that way. These two artists owe us an album next, I still feel like the EP is not enough .... I look forward to more of their work and I hope y'all enjoy my entry .
