Second City is truly a jewel in the crown of Chicago’s comedy scene attaining international recognition and respect. Many of the greats have come from Second City including Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Gilda Radner, Chris Farley and the list goes on and on.
This interview brings together one of Second City’s true rising stars, Jeff Award winner performer/writer/director Evan Mills who has worked at Second City since 2018. Evan’s career is on a rocket and he is widely expected to join the ranks of the greats.
Evan directed this year’s Victor Wong Fellows production, “Youth in Asia or, Are You Proud of Me Yet?” Joining in the conversation are two of this year’s Fellows: Grace Goze and Johanna Medrano who, with their eight colleague Fellows are wowing audiences at their Tuesday night in May performances. The Victor Wong Fellows are dedicated to the education and growth of members of the AAPIH community and the show and its comedy honor and respect that fact, thru grand humor and lots of poking fun.
The interview goes beyond a discussion of the fellowship to talk about how improv skits are put together and how the comedy is refined. If you can catch the show on a Tuesday in May, or like improv or are thinking of taking up its study, this chat is for you!
