Todays special guest is Victoria Garrick. Victoria is a recent graduate from USC where she was a stand out Division One Athlete and Libero on the women's volleyball team. During her first year she began to see her experience shift when taking notice of her mental health. During her sophomore season as a student athlete , she delivered a TED Talk about her experience and the importance of Mental Health in Athletes , that received many views and a desire for continue conversation around mental health in sport. Since then, Victoria has become a leader in the mental health and body-image advocacy space, starting a non profit " The Hidden Opponent", she has traveled the country speaking on college campuses, hosts a hit podcast, and creates daily content for over 1.0M+ people who follow her on social media. As current coaches who are also passionate about what she is doing we really were intrigued to get her perspective as a recent graduate and also learn how the athletic community and coaches can continue to better understand what athletes today truly experience. Our conversation touches on some of the darkest moments in her career but also how she has now be an even brighter light for the many others she serves daily. We enjoyed getting to know her and think you will love getting to know more about her in this episode! We hope you enjoy "Facing the Hidden Opponent" wit Victoria Garrick.
