“Like father, like son.” That phrase could describe the tragedy of David’s family, where sinful patterns repeated and pain multiplied. Yet in the aftermath of a tragedy, we’re reminded of something greater: a God who devises ways to bring His people home. This week we’ll look at how God’s mercy pursues us, restores us, and calls us back into relationship with Him and with one another.

The last two weeks we’ve looked at how we Discover Jesus and how we Discover His Family. Now we turn to the final piece of our Victory Vision: Discover Purpose. When we give our life to Christ, everything changes. Our direction becomes clear, our work gains meaning, and our ministry flows from who He has made us to be. Last week we spoke about Discovering Jesus, the first component of our new Vision Statement. This Sunday we will look at the second segment, Discovering His Family. That word family brings a variety of thoughts to our mind, some pleasant and others painful. Yet we see in scripture family is important to God. He uses the Church family to give us a better understanding of the dynamics of His Family. If we do it right, the experiences are wonderful!

Although our series on David has been eye opening and enriching, for the next three weeks we will press pause in our study of his life and focus on our Victory Vision. We’re excited to share with you the first component of that vision this Sunday, as it brings focus to why we exist as a church. We’re excited and believe our new vision will position us for greater impact in our community!

In our study of David so far, we have been fortunate to get a glimpse into the life of a true leader who possesses a driving desire to honor and please God. Many of us have the same desire. One component of being an effective leader is doing what needs to be done even when the support of others is lacking. This Sunday we examine a story where David was all-in even when facing resistance from someone he loved.

Sometimes in life it feels we’re in a boxing ring receiving blow after blow from the enemy. We duck, we dive, moving from side to side, trying to avoid being hit. But on occasion we’re on the receiving end of a blow that we didn’t see coming, and it leaves us reeling. David found himself in such a state. Join us to learn what he did to regain his balance and remain steadfast in serving the LORD his God.
