Mercy is ministry. If we are unwilling to actually see ourselves, then we are unwilling to see our need for mercy, and we certainly will not extend mercy to others.

Jonah 4.

When God uses us, we are merely the conduits of His power. As Jonah spoke this simple message, God brought an entire people to repentance. The power was not in Jonah's eloquence but in his submission to God's instruction.

Jonah 3.

When Jonah was told that he had to go evangelize the Ninevites, he ran, and he was led down into the depths of his own sin. It was then that he became a foreshadowing of Christ, but it was also in that place that he learned of the repentance that the Ninevites needed.

Jonah 1:11-17

Before we go OUT, we must look within. In this sermon, we are challenged to evaluate our lives and our own sins to ensure that we are not causing greater problems for the rest of the body of Christ. As Jonah wrestled with his own feelings of trauma, he had to do the Will of God.

In today's sermon, we are reminded of the depth of love that Christ has for His people. We are also reminded that the joy we experience as Christians is directly related to the amount of unbelievers that come to Christ. This is a challenge for us to seek out that joy actively!
