First off, I want to say I love the podcast!
Second, I had two thoughts on today's podcast on Psalm 23, specifically on verse 5 -
"You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies."
First, David says not only that there is a table ready for us to sit with God and feast, but that God Himself prepares it. To me this is an awesome reminder that when we are staring down the barrel of danger or in the midst of tough times that God does not leave or stop caring about us. He is still actively inviting us into His presence to be with Him and to dine at His table.
Second, David says that the table is set in the presence of our enemies. You guys covered this so well in the podcast! I love that we are able to sit and dwell not just with our friends and break bread, but also with those who may not be in the same circles as us or those who may wish us harm, just as Jesus did with Levi and the Pharisees. I also wanted to note that this verse means that we not only should not be afraid to reach for God and ask for his help during tough times, but that we should go so far as to sit down with Him, rest easy in His peace, and fill ourselves with the Spirit.
Thanks for doing the podcast and I look forward to future episodes! We wish you and your family well!
