Despite his long-standing stubbornness for his preference, Isaac accepts God’s reversal, embracing what God had said through his own words of blessing. Maturing in faith will always involve changing our mind about the will of God.

Isaac’s life is a repetition of what happened to Abraham—a series of difficulties before the God who always proved faithful. God’s provision notwithstanding shows that his faithfulness in the past can be counted on in the present and future.

The “Binding of Isaac” from Isaac’s perspective reveals Abraham’s faith that had been forged into Isaac, seen in Isaac’s response. Faith is formed in us not simply by instruction, but by having it lived out and demonstrated before us.
