Continuing in our Countdown to Halloween, Matt Mercer (writer, actor, director, producer, and keeper of The Gargyle Shrine) joins us to discuss a bit about the various films in which he has been involved recently (most of which you will be able to see at the Knoxville Horror Film Festival), followed by our Donald Sutherland-centric horror movie blind spots: Don't Look Now (Matt) and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (Nathan and Eric)! Matt has been an inspiration since the early days of The Gargyle Podcast, so it's always an absolute blast when he is able to join us! Things might get a bit silly when he is our guest, but at least....wait...that's a good thing...things always get a bit silly when he is our guest! If you enjoy this episode, be sure to check back soon for more cinematic discussions as we countdown to Halloween with our Horror Movie Blind Spot series on The Gargyle Podcast - where we take movies seriously, but not ourselves!! The Gargyle Podcast is sponsored by Central Cinema and the Knoxville Horror Film Festival! Tickets for the Knoxville Horror Film Festival are currently on sale! And if you are still trying to decide whether or not to go, (practically) the full lineup has been announced - and it is a hell of a lineup!! If you'd like to submit your film to KHFF 2019, submissions are still open (however, now with late submission fees), so submit your film at filmfreeway.com now! And be sure to follow KHFF on Facebook for more news and announcements! View Central Cinema's lineup, showtimes, and purchase tickets at centralcinema865.com. Adam and I started working through the Harry Potter series a couple of years ago and in tonight's episode, we finally wrap up our coverage (of the original 8 films...) with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2! In tonight's episode, we discuss how terrible James Potter is, how problematic the wizarding world is from a sociocultural perspective (and how that might have been done on purpose...), and an abundance of other questions and comments about the entire series that we hadn't mentioned before (and some that we we probably have). So, grab your sword of Gryffindor, work on your best defensive spells (or, you know...get a dragon), and say goodbye to even more of your favorite characters as Adam and I hunt for the last of the horcruxes in our analysis of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

1999 was an amazing year for cinema, giving the world some of the most beloved, groundbreaking, quotable, and rewatchable movies of the modern era! Ok...that might be slight hyperbole, but it's definitely true that 1999 had some amazing films!! And while Eric and I would love to cover practically every movie from 1999 (and probably will get around to it, eventually), we have both been swamped at work lately. So, on tonight's episode, rather than giving a detailed review, we are doing something a bit different. Tonight's episode is a sort of a "what if?" episode where Eric and I come up with theories on where some of the characters from some of our favorite films from 1999 have ended up 20 years later. We have the utmost respect for each of the movies we discuss. But, if you've ever listened to the podcast before, you should know...things get a bit silly....
On tonight's episode, we also wish Happy Anniversary to our friends and sponsors at Central Cinema, discuss the Knoxville Horror Film Festival lineup that has been announced so far (there are some amazing films and we cannot wait for KHFF to get here!!!), discuss the Chattanooga Film Festival (submissions are now open for CFF 2020) and the free movies in the park series that they are doing this summer, and talk about some of the films recently (or soon to be) available on Shudder as we gear up towards our Halloween coverage (which starts September 1).
If you enjoy this episode, be sure to check back soon for more cinematic discussions on The Gargyle Podcast - where we take movies seriously, but not ourselves!! The next episode (finally) wraps up the Harry Potter coverage that Adam and I started a couple of years ago as we discuss Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, part 2.

During our coverage of the Chattanooga Film Festival, Eric and I talked about how much we loved I Trapped the Devil on part 1 of our Two Guys, a Girl, and a Baaaaaad Situation episode (found here) because...well...because it's an amazing, dark (both in tone and in atmosphere), dramatic horror movie with a strong focus on character and character interactions. So, we are extremely excited to be joined by tonight's guests, Josh Lobo (writer and director of I Trapped the Devil) and Scott Poythress (alleged devil trapper)!! While we do not delve too far into spoiler territory, there are occasional spoilers in our discussion (click the link above for our spoiler-free review from our CFF coverage). So, if you want a completely spoiler-free experience of I Trapped the Devil, check it out on VOD or on Hulu and then come back for our discussion...think of it like a behind the scenes extra feature commentary (for those of you who enjoy bonus features)!

Camp Gargyle 2019 has ended and The Chimerican and I have returned home. And just like kids returning from real summer camps, we couldn't wait to share our stories with our friends...so, naturally, we called up two of our favorite people: Matt Mercer and Graham Skipper!! As expected, it doesn't take very long for things to get silly. But, amidst all the silliness, we discuss (among other things) VFW and Bliss - two recent projects from Joe Begos (Bliss was recently announced as one of the films that will be playing at the Knoxville Horror Film Festival this year), some of our own personal camp experiences, and whether or not Friday the 13th actually is a "summer camp" movie. As always, we had an absolute blast with Matt and Graham and cannot wait to have them back for more silliness!!
