VideoDestruct Podcast

This week we cover the Sci-Fi action/destruction based game Red Faction: Guerrilla where you can destroy an entire building with a sledgehammer! Get ready for an in-depth talk about the history of Volition, Inc. and THQ and how this game came to be and why we won’t be seeing another one.

We also talk about:

* Hoss’ love of red neck things

* Atari: Game Over documentary

* Massive Chalice

* The Fallout 4 trailer

* The Saint’s Row series

Gus is back on the show after a long time spent at PAX! Seriously he was there for MONTHS! The panel talks about Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes on the GameCube this week. Or rather, the Star Wars “Special Edition” of the Metal Gear series.

We also discuss:

* Halo ODST Release

* Xbox Achievements

* New Monster Hunter Announced

* Wrestling News – ROH on Destination America

In this impromptu/improv episode Brandon explains Spiderman to Hoss. The comics, the movies, the Marvel/Sony deal and all the really weird shit that has surrounded the Spiderman lore since his inception into the pop culture. It’s a weird one… I swear next week we’ll play a video game…

We also talk about:

* Not Another Teen Movie

* The Marvel Movie Universe

* Sony Pictures

It’s a special movie edition of the VideoDestruct Podcast! That’s right this week we don’t spend any time on video games because Hoss, Nate and Brandon took a trip to the cinema to watch Mad Max: Fury Road. FULL SPOILERS are ahead so if you’re interested in seeing it, do so first because we go in-depth with the whole thing.

We also talk about:

* Jurassic World

* Fantastic Four Reboot

* The Last Witch Hunter

* Furious 7

* The Mad Max Video Game

Part 2 and we actually get to talk about Wolfensein 3D! We also discuss the resurgence in the classic games market and the hidden gems of the Sega CD.

Brandon played a classic game last week which is actually one of Hoss’ all time favorites. However… we’ll be discussing that one in part 2. This part is all about the news announcements from the week. This includes the disappearance of PT from the PS Store, more on the Konami/Kojima falling out and announcements for Rock Band.

Nate Rowe joins Brandon and Hoss again at VideoDestruct HQ so we can talk about one of their favorite terrible games from their college days. Soldier of Fortune Payback. Did this console leap from a PC franchise shine or shutter in it’s transition? The limbs held on by ball bearings will likely be a clue to your answer.

Other things we discuss:

* PlayStation TV

* Hoss’ Phone Call with Sony Customer Service

* Silent Hills Canceled

Hoss, Brandon and our guest Nate talk about Sci-fi stuff for an hour and half. The retro game of choice this week? Bioware’s swan song, KOTOR! Knights of the Old Republic was a landmark in console gaming and we talk about why here on the VideoDestruct Podcast.

What we also talk about:

* Interstellar

* Inception

* Mass Effect

Hoss and Brandon are visited by an old buddy Nate Rowe and we all sit down to discuss movies, video games and our Old Ass Game of the week. In honor of the release of the latest installment in the series we’ll be remembering the classics in the Mortal Kombat library while also discussing Mortal Kombat X a little as well. We also, like the rest of the internet, get hung up on a lot of trailer coverage.

What we also talk about in this podcast:

* Star Wars Trailer

* Star Wars Battlefront

* Star Wars Special Editions

* Guitar Hero Live Trailer

* Rockband Rerelease

* Trackmania Servers

* Jurassic World and Jurassic Park

Hoss and Brandon talk about a Bond game that should have been a Bond movie. Everything or Nothing has everything a Bond flick needs and even the best Bond in the movie’s history. Too bad this gem never found it’s way to the big screen a long with other greats like… Die Another Day… ugh…
