Look, Mum! Soviet Computer!
A look at tens of Soviet computer boards from the '60s/'70s found in a e-waste dumpster. All germanium diode & transistor logic, nicely hand-routed single layer boards, way looser than those in the Soemtron, easy to follow... with some interesting twists too.
The modules might come from early generation of the ES EVM "Ryad" a.k.a. "Unified Series" mainframe computers, based on reverse-engineered IBM System/360. It's worth noting that apart from components from all over the Eastern Bloc (e.g. GDR transistors and capacitors, Polish capacitors), Western capacitors and semiconductors are there too.

June 01, 2025 Inside a 1960s Medical Device - Unistom G-9
Teardown of an old Polish dental pantostat made by FAMED (Medical Apparatus Factory), which interestingly was located a few hundreds meters away from my old home. I saw the factory everytime I looked out the window.
The Unistom G-9 was made in the 1960s/70s, it was used for several types of dental procedures: electro-surgery (electrotomy and electro-coagulation), endoscopy, sample viewing, ionophoresis and dental pulp testing using Faradic current.
The device runs on two EL81 pentodes in parallel as a HF current generator for electro-surgery and a TG0,1/1,3 thyratron for generating current spikes at up to 10% duty cycle on the dental pulp test setting which uses Faradic currents.
The 110V DC power supply on the terminal board on the side is used for ionophoresis, with the milliammeter for measuring the current.
The voltmeter is used in pulp test to set the voltage low enough to be relatively comfortable to the patient, but high enough to be felt when inflammated tissue is stimulated.

June 01, 2025 The Cake Is A Lie! Keritech Electronics Channel 2nd Anniversary Special
We've been together for two years! I missed the date... again.
How did it start?
I was inspired by @ContraPoints and @PhilosophyTube to start a channel in the first place, with video-essay / social issues content. It took months before I made my first video though, and it went in a completely different direction: tech stuff. I've been doing electronics since I was a teenager, building and fixing amps and tube stuff for two decades now. I'm neither a businesswoman, a career person at all, or a professional Youtuber... just a nerdy autistic 37 year old Polish trans gal who makes a poor living out of designing, building and fixing electronics, because that's what I was doing for most of my life. It's been two years of making videos now. I'm sticking to my guns running a non-commercial channel, which is about sharing tech and building a community first and foremost, and also an anti-capitalist anarcho-transfeminist neurodivergent propaganda outlet, and a space for creativity.
The Keritech Electronics name predates the channel by a few months. I came up with it soon after I choose a new name for myself when I was transitioning in 2020. Nerdy as I am, I chose it after a character in some of my favorite pop-culture... Keri was a non-player character in Fallout 1. She co-ran Crimson Caravan in The Hub with her father Demetre; she looked punk as hell and had the attitude. My kind of gal.

This reminded me of the little treasure I once got from a lab clearance at the Gdańsk Medical University (GUMed), also made by Grass Instruments, but older and almost totally tubular, save for detection diodes. I was going to make a video about it for a long time.
It's the SIU-4B stimulus isolation unit. It was used either in electro-medicine or biologic research, and provides galvanic separation between waveform generator and the patient or test subject.
A beautifully built little device with a single vacuum tube Hartley oscillator driving a transformer used for galvanic separation between the equipment side and patient side. The high amplitude AC signal applied to the tube's plate modulates the radio frequency signal passing through the core-less HF transformer and then is demodulated, filtered and attenuated, optionally with phase inversion. Perfect simplicity, astonishing build quality! It's built on a 2.5mm (or .1" a.k.a. 100 mils - if you stick with Vader and Emperor Palpatine) thick glass-epoxy substrate normally used for making printed circuit boards, only this is not a PCB - it has no traces. It's a turretboard, not unlike those found in boutique tube guitar amps. A thing of beauty, a joy for ever. I'm keeping this loveliness as a museum piece for the future generations to see and be inspired by.
