As we hosted a Mission appeal's preacher this weekend, here is the homily and my brief remarks during the collection for the Pallotine Father's.

The Prophet was the victim of gossip, and Jesus proclaims the truth which will defend us. We should seek to root out gossip in its forms (calumny and detraction, especially as disciples.

On this feast of Corpus Christi, the Church gives us an opportunity to ask the question, "Who is this gift that we receive?"

The Holy Trinity is the mystery - Three persons perfectly united in one essence. But do we try to explain the mystery, or experience it?

The Holy Spirit, the Advocate, comes to our aid. Done allow Him in our lives?

Jesus promises power to activate us, and calls us to form disciples. Do we treat this power as superfluous, or as necessary?

St. Peter instructs us to be ready to explain our faith, but first exhorts us to sanctify the Lord in our hearts, but how do we do that? Perhaps, but looking at how we create a home for ourselves (especially as our seniors leave us), we might take hints for inviting Christ to dwell in us.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life... but what does that mean? He is the Only means to the Father, and we are called to help all know Him. As we mark the 100th anniversary of the first apparition of Our Lady of Fatima, ask the Blessed Mother for her help to know her Son.

The Good Shepherd is leading us, and we need to listen for His sound. But how do we grow accustomed to hearing His sound? Silence, Saints, and Sacraments.

Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, we need to let our hearts burn with longing for the Lord when we read of Him in Sacred Scripture, and let them be satisfied in the Eucharist.
