Studies reveal issues of irreversible defects and 'Model Collapse' in large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT and Bard due to their reliance on model-generated data. Experts now question the assumption of LLM's unhampered progress and debate the potential damage that might be uncontrollable. Regulation of machine-generated data and maintenance of content authenticity are suggested to combat this major issue.
