While their defense ranked 28th in points allowed and 31st in yards allowed, they were opportunistic in spots and ranked 9th in the league in turnovers caused. However, their performance was not enough to keep defensive coordinator Ed Donnatel's job, and the Vikings' defense will need a significant overhaul if they want to compete in the upcoming season.

In other news, the Vikings have been making significant changes to their scouting department, and the addition of Matt Kelly as their west coast scout could prove to be a valuable asset to the team. The Vikings are also reportedly bringing in XFL quarterback Jordan Ta'amu for a workout, adding to their quarterback roster of Kirk Cousins, Nick Mullens, and fifth-round pick Jaren Hall. Finally, Vikings tight end Ben Ellefson announced his retirement from football, citing injuries as a significant reason for his decision.
