Riches come in many forms. Some say to be truly rich you must acquire wealth. Some say it is family and friends. Others say it's the pleasures in life. However, as Christians, we know true riches are found in and through Jesus Christ. As what could be more valuable than our own salvation? Come this Sunday for our sermon, "God's Riches," where we'll examine 2 Peter 1:5-15 and discuss the true riches God has poured out on us. After all, Peter tells us what they are and how we can benefit from them.

Anyone who's been through a hurricane knows that the worst part is the clean up, especially when you're without power for several days in the middle of the hottest month of the year. See, it's not till we're without power, that we recognize how we take it for granted. Being void of lighting, the internet, a running A/C and host of other luxuries, serves to remind us of our reliance on the power company. Fortunately, as Believers, we know that God's power never goes out. In fact, we're comforted in knowing that His power sustains us in all things! We're never more motivated to clean up around the house, then when company is expected. Unfortunately, no matter how clean we get our house, it will eventually become dirty again. The same is true of whatever we clean. However, the same is not true of what God cleans. We've been cleansed and commissioned by God, for a mission. As Christians, we've been cleaned and cleared to share the Gospel. Interestingly, something similar happened to the Prophet Isaiah. See, he was cleansed and commissioned, too! Only he was cleaned and cleared to prophesy God's coming judgment. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "His Holy Cleansing" as we look further into Isaiah 6:1-7.

Furnaces and Boilers function differently, but provide similar results. Large Boilers are used in the dry-cleaning business, as they produce steam for steam cleaning, pressing and ironing garments. They're capable of generating heat up to 180 - 210 F. However, these large Boilers must be maintained. To clean the boiler tubes, one must literally get inside to chemically clean the deposits left behind. When looking inside, it's easy to observe evidence of the deposits from the tremendous amount of heat that's generated. Therefore, no one would ever wish to be inside while the Boiler was in use. The same is true for a Furnace. However, there is this amazing historical account in the Bible where three men were thrown into a furnace. The amazing part is that they were saved by a fourth man. What is in a name? The Judeo-Christian God has many names to describe Him. One name in particular, not only describes who He is, but what He is. In the Gospel of John, Jesus is debating with the Pharisees. He tells them that Father Abraham longed to see the day he came into the world. They joked that Jesus wasn't even 40 years old. So, how how could He even know Abraham? Jesus answered: "Before Abraham was, I AM!" They immediately picked up rocks to stone Him to death on the charge of blasphemy in the highest degree. He used the most holy of all God's names to describe Himself. Come this Sunday as we study Exodus 3, to find out what His name means and see what happened when Moses ran into the "The Great I AM".

The object of wrestling is to gain superior advantage over your opponent. The sport is one of the oldest forms of combat, which dates back thousands of years. In fact, there are cave drawings that illustrate the art of grappling. Wrestling was the focal sport of the ancient Olympic Games. It's even depicted in the Bible. As Christians, we too understand what it's like to wrestle. Spiritually, we wrestle with our pride and own self-sufficiency. However, do you know what happens when we allow our pride and our own self-sufficiency to gain a superior advantage over us? We falsely believe that we do not need Jesus. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "Wrestling With God," from Genesis 32:22-32 - 33:1-4, as we learn how Jacob wrestled with a preincarnate Jesus!

There are many intricate rules to the game of baseball, many of which are confusing to the casual observer. One example would be the "sacrifice fly". The "sacrifice fly," can only happen before two are out and a ball is caught in flight, therefore resulting in a scored run, after the catch. See, the batter is therefore out, but his teammate scores a run for the team. As believers in Jesus, we know that we've been sacrificed for. We've scored eternal life due to the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross. A father and son have a special kind of relationship. Most sons believe their dad has super human strength. However, this doesn't stop them from playing games that pit their own strength against their dad's. At times, the father will let the son win in order to build self confidence. Therefore, it is in the strength (or lack of in this case) and understanding of the father, that allows the son to even compete, let alone win. Our Father in Heaven is no different. He has unlimited power and knowledge, but at times has limited them for our betterment. He has done this so that we may have a relationship with Him, which allows us to see His power and glory. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Nothing's Too Hard For God," from Genesis 18:1-21. We will discover how God wants a relationship with us and wants to teach us that through Him, all things are possible!

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? Some would contest that no sound was produced. Why? Because many believe that sound does not exist if no one hears it. However, as Christians, we know this isn't quite true. Why? Because God is omnipresent. Therefore, everything happens before Him. In fact, not only does He hear each tree that falls, but He sees and hears each of us too, through His undivided, gracious attention! Join us this Sunday, as we discover Jesus showing up before His birth, to visit an Egyptian slave named Hagar, in our sermon "The Angel And The Slave," from Genesis 16:1-16.

As humans, we all suffer from making bad choices. We are imperfect beings and act accordingly. However, what about when we choose something bad for us based on a want or need? Just as some would say smokers risk a laundry list of self inflicted ailments because they enjoy lighting up. Also, as Christians, we sometimes choose to do the very thing God has told us not to do. We do it simply because we feel like it. Even though we know He is our Father who loves us and wants to protect us from sin and it's affects, we justify our way into bad situations. Join us this Sunday for our sermon "The Foolishness of Sin" from 1 John 5:16-21, where we'll find out that it's a fool's game to ignore God's Word as it pertains to sin. In fact, such behavior can even be deadly!
