Welcome back to Vinally High Record Review Sessions, where Drew Beats and BJ Buds get back to the roots of Vinally High: good records, good vibes, good conversation, and absolutely no idea where the conversation is going to end up.
This time, the needle drops on Phil Collins’ 1985 classic No Jacket Required — one of the biggest albums of the 1980s and a defining moment in Collins’ transition from his earlier, more introspective sound into the polished, synth-heavy pop that would dominate the decade.
As the record spins, Drew and BJ break down the album track by track, talk about Collins’ evolution from Genesis drummer and frontman to massive solo superstar, debate why Phil Collins has such a strong following across generations and cultures, and explore what makes an ’80s vinyl pressing sound so damn good.
And, of course, this is a Record Review Session, so we had to pair the album with something special.
Tonight’s strain: G41 (Gelato 41) from our friends at Full Circle Pharms. Drew and BJ check in throughout the session to see how the strain’s effects evolve alongside the record — and discover something pretty interesting: the G41 experience seems to rise and fall with the music.
From Sussudio to One More Night, from vinyl collecting to THC spreadsheets, from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony to the possibility of a THC slushie bar, this episode goes everywhere you’d expect a Vinally High conversation to go.
And at the end, Drew hits BJ with the Record Review Sessions’ Stoner Thought Question:
Should we judge an album by its artistic vulnerability, or by how perfectly it accomplishes its goal?
So drop the needle, spark up, sit back, and join us for another trip through the records that shaped us.

Before there was a podcast, there were just two friends, a turntable, some great flower, and hours of talking music. The Record Review Sessions bring us back to where Vinally High began.
In this episode, Drew Beats and BJ Buds drop the needle on HIM's 2000 classic Razorblade Romance while enjoying Orange Creamsicle flower from our friends at Full Circle Pharms. As the music plays, the conversation goes everywhere—from the origins of "love metal," Bam Margera's role in introducing HIM to American audiences, and why this album became such an influential gothic rock release... to cannabis culture, local hemp businesses, AI, self-driving cars, Jersey Shore dance parties, and whatever else the flower inspires.
This isn't a polished album review—it's two friends hanging out, getting Vinally High, and letting the music guide the conversation.

In this episode, hosts Drew Beats and BJ Buds dive deep into the intersection of vinyl records, cannabis culture, entrepreneurship, and advocacy.
Mike shares the story behind building one of the most recognizable cannabis brands in the Carolinas—from opening an early CBD storefront with limited resources to growing a multi-layered cannabis business that includes retail, product brands, and distribution. On this episode of Vinally High, Drew Beats and BJ Buds sit down with a very special guest who’s been powering the flower all season long—award-winning cultivator Geoff, the man behind Ghost Face Gorilla Grow. Fresh off winning Best Flower at the 2025 Crown Town Cannabis Cup, Jeff finally joins the show to share the story behind his craft, his journey through the cannabis industry, and what it really takes to grow top-tier product.
The conversation dives deep into the science, art, and dedication behind cannabis cultivation. Geoff explains how what many people think is a laid-back job is actually a highly technical process involving controlled environments, pest prevention, sanitation practices, and constant monitoring of temperature, humidity, and lighting cycles. From multiple grow rooms for different plant stages to dialing in the perfect conditions, cultivating premium flower is a full-time labor of love.
Geoff also shares how his journey began 15 years ago as a family effort, originally growing cannabis to help supply medical needs for his mother during the early days of the medical cannabis movement. What started in a basement eventually evolved into a professional cultivation operation built on passion, knowledge, and years of learning the hard way.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Vinally High episode without spinning a record. This week’s vinyl pick is Stay Asleep by Bigwig (1999)—a skate-punk classic that sparks a nostalgic conversation about the underground punk scenes of Florida, New York, and North Carolina. The crew reflects on discovering music in the pre-streaming era, local shows in unexpected venues, and the tight-knit community that defined punk culture.
Along the way, the episode explores:

This week on Vinally High, Drew Beats and BJ Buds are joined by Charlotte-by-way-of-Long-Island rapper, singer, and songwriter Nani for a conversation that moves just as seamlessly as her flow.
Fresh off a soul-reset trip to Cancún, Nani steps into the studio in a mood of gratitude and clarity, ready to unpack her journey—from winning a fourth-grade poetry contest to navigating early studio sessions in New York, to finding her signature “baby voice” sound right here in North Carolina. She opens up about homelessness, creative pivots, producer chemistry, and the vulnerability it takes to refine your artistry without losing your edge.
The crew spins Ill Na Na by Foxy Brown, diving into the era when female MCs blended raw lyricism with unapologetic sexuality—and why ’90s New York hip-hop still hits different. From deep conversations about artistry and influence (including the undeniable industry impact of Sean Combs) to hilarious AI-generated album cover experiments, this episode balances real talk with classic Vinally High chaos.
Nani breaks down:
Between vinyl spins, sponsor love, and elevated vibes, the conversation floats from hip-hop history to personal growth to staying authentic in an industry that constantly demands reinvention.

On this episode of the Vinally High Podcast, Drew Beats and BJ Buds welcome a rising force in Charlotte’s music scene — DJ Meechie.
Hailing from Pittsburgh, PA, Meechie brings the raw grit of the North and blends it seamlessly with the soulful rhythms of the South and beyond. But her journey to the turntables didn’t start in the club — it started in the classroom.
Just a year ago, Meechie was a high school journalism and AVID teacher, shaping young minds and encouraging students to chase their dreams. In a full-circle moment of self-reflection, she realized she had to take her own advice. What began as a dusty DJ controller sitting in her living room turned into a leap of faith, late-night practice sessions, TikTok lives, and eventually… residencies and real momentum in the city.
While spinning The College Dropout by Kanye West, Meechie shares how that album shaped her at just nine years old and why conscious, culture-shifting hip hop still fuels her creativity today. The conversation dives into:
From her first birthday gig to landing a residency in under a year, Meechie proves that hunger, authenticity, and bold action can accelerate your path faster than you ever imagined.
This episode is about betting on yourself, honoring your roots, and understanding that sometimes the scariest pivot leads to your real purpose.
Roll the vinyl. Spark the conversation. Get Vinally High.

Tae’s work blends ancestral wisdom, herbal medicine, breath-work, sound healing, and creative rituals to help people reconnect with themselves and explore deeper paths of healing.
The conversation begins with Tae sharing her journey into holistic healing and plant medicine—from experimenting with growing cannabis in college to diving deep into the world of mushrooms and their potential benefits for mental health and personal growth. Tae explains how mushrooms helped shape her understanding of self-reflection, healing, and intention, and why she believes education and guidance are key to destigmatizing herbal medicine.
Along the way, the crew discusses microdosing, the importance of approaching psychedelic experiences with intention, and how plant medicines may play a major role in the future of mental health treatment. Tae also shares insights into her mission to help people reconnect with nature and their inner selves through holistic practices and community education.

In this episode of Vinally High, Drew Beats and BJ Buds welcome longtime friend and genre-bending musician Charlez360 into the studio for a wide-ranging conversation that blends music history, creativity, culture, and a little controlled chaos.
Originally from Berlin, Germany, Charles talks about his journey as a saxophonist, singer, songwriter, and frontman for an Irish Rover Van Morrison tribute, and how growing up surrounded by multiple musical worlds shaped his sound. The crew reflects on intimate live performances, reading the room as a musician, and why quieter, more intentional music spaces often hit the hardest.
Side A centers around Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory — breaking down the album’s impact, emotional weight, genre-blending brilliance, and why it still resonates decades later. The conversation dives into nu-metal, hip-hop crossovers, DJ culture in rock bands, Chester Bennington’s legacy, and the risks that made Linkin Park timeless.
Side B goes deeper as the group tackles AI in music, authenticity vs. automation, streaming loopholes, and why human imperfection may end up being the most valuable currency in art. From Spotify scams to casserole metaphors, nothing is safe.
As always, the episode includes a vinyl cover breakdown, an album-related trivia giveaway, sponsor shoutouts, and plenty of off-the-rails moments that feel more like hanging out than hosting a podcast.
Light one up, drop the needle, and settle in — this is Vinally High at its most thoughtful, unfiltered, and human.

This week on the Vinally High Podcast, Drew Beats and BJ Buds welcome a special guest to the studio — Carolina’s own Cam Kent (aka Cameron Wade), a producer, artist, and self-described creator of “music for the soul.”
The crew drops the needle on D’Angelo’s legendary album Voodoo and dives deep into the sounds, stories, and influence behind one of the most important records in modern soul and R&B. Along the way, Cam shares his musical journey — from singing in church and learning harmony with family members to becoming a producer who blends hip-hop, gospel, soul, and house music into his own unique sound.
The conversation flows through everything from crate digging and the art of sampling to the origins of neo-soul, the influence of producers like J Dilla and DJ Quik, and the cultural evolution of hip-hop. Cam also talks about how growing up around music shaped his creativity and how his philosophy of authenticity guides both his artistry and his life.
As always, the episode features the Vinally High fan-favorite segment where BJ describes the album cover and the team feeds the description into AI to see what wild image it generates. Listeners are invited to guess the album based only on the description.
Plus, the crew highlights Charlotte’s growing underground music scene, shares stories about discovering new artists, and reflects on the power of music to connect people across genres, backgrounds, and generations.
Roll one up, drop the needle, and join the conversation as music, culture, creativity, and community collide in another laid-back episode of Vinally High.

While spinning Spell My Name by the legendary Toni Braxton, the crew explores how music carries memory, grief, empowerment, and healing across generations. Tommy shares powerful insights on trauma-informed practice, circle-based facilitation, and what it means to slow down in a world built for constant distraction. From relational intelligence and collective care to the impact of technology, capitalism, and disconnection on our nervous systems, this episode invites listeners to rethink how we show up for ourselves and one another.
The conversation also touches on spirituality beyond religion, the role of plant medicine and intention in personal growth, and how ancient practices like circle work can help individuals, families, and organizations repair trust, navigate rupture, and align more deeply with their values.
