Psalm 1 tells us that blessing comes when we delight in the law of the Lord. But how do we do that? Delight isn't something we can just turn  on or off. Delight is an emotion that comes from experiencing something good. So how can I experience something good, how can I experience God through the law?

When we hear this passage preached, we normally think about tithing and the pastor telling us to give to the church. What we see in this text is that the issue is not about money at all, but about the posture of your heart. There may be no greater litmus test in our lives than the way we think about money.

We are a deeply occupied people, with deep, passive assumptions about the outcome of what we do. Not all of these truths are because of our actions, but we must ask ourselves, what assumptions or commitments are standing in the way of a union with Jesus?
