Nearly 25 years ago, then Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan asked, “How do we know when irrational exuberance has unduly escalated asset values, which then become subject to unexpected and prolonged contractions?” The question of when a bubble exists seems positively 1999. But given the recent volatile action of GameStop stock, those two words seem to be back in vogue, prompting me to wonder: Is irrational exuberance back?
