► The Prophecy: Why did Jesus ride into the city on a donkey? He was directly fulfilling Zechariah 9:9, arriving as the righteous, victorious, yet humble King.

► The Cloaks: When the disciples laid their cloaks on the road, it wasn't just a kind gesture. In the first century, a cloak represented a person's identity. Laying it down was an act of total surrender and submission to His royal authority

► The Tears: While the disciples joyfully praised God for the miracles they had witnessed, Jesus wept over the city. His heart broke because the people of Jerusalem failed to recognize Him as the Messiah and missed the salvation standing right in front of them. This story shows a sharp contrast between total worship and tragic rejection.

The presence of the Lord will always be opposed because the Gospel of Jesus Christ is counterculture.

We learn to 'position' ourselves in the Lord's presence through times of quiet, and prayer.

Don't underestimate our need for the Lord's presence - what we want is not necessarily what we need!

When the Lord is present remarkable things happen... there is power, and the forgiveness of sins, and healing... the list goes on.

Ezekiel 47:1-12 is a remarkable piece of scripture. Ezekiel has a vision in which he was given a tour of the temple. The temple tour is over and he finds himself mesmerized by this phenomenon of water flowing out from the temple. Matt explores this remarkable vision of a new temple and the life-giving water flowing from its sanctuary.

Our big picture God has put His plans in our hearts.

God has always spoken His plans over His people, even when they had walked away from Him, like the people of Israel, who because of their disobedience and hard heartedness ended up living under the tyranny of a foreign king, exiled to a foreign land.

We need to learn to trust our big picture God for what He has put in us and 'walk out' our trust for God by faith!

Nothing about us, regardless of what we have or haven’t done, changes what He has put in us! Jesus awakens God’s plans in us!

A healthy church is equipped to be together and to work well which means being healthy to grow, and to have love front and centre of everything we do.

Building together is fostered through a culture of one another, building next to each other as we saw in Nehemiah Chapter 3.

Do you ever feel disqualified to 'build' with those around you? The truth is, we are all empowered and called to live out our identities as sons and daughters of God. Teachers, landscapers, lawyers, students, moms, dads, street sweepers... Everyone gets to play! Advancing God's kingdom and "doing the stuff" is not about your career. Your calling is simply the means through which you can walk out your calling.

So what stops us from picking up the stones and building the wall?

● Ephesians 2:10: "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do".

● 1 Peter 4:10-11: "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms".

What if life was not about the breakthrough?

What if life was about being faithful and close to the one who brings the breakthrough?

Zechariah and Elizabeth were seen as righteous in the eyes of the Lord and they had nothing to show for it. They could not have kids and had reached an old age when out of nowhere the angel Gabriel shows up and shares God's plan with Zechariah. He doubts the plan and “drops the ball” but God goes ahead despite his disbelief in that moment.

Matt unpacks how sometimes we can be faithful and faithless at the same time. Our Christian walk can sometimes feel like it is in “auto-pilot” or “cruise control” but while we are faithful in attending we don’t see breakthrough. God is bigger than our doubt even if we doubt in the midst of obedience.
