Welcome! Today we’re diving into one of the most powerful “I Am” statements of Jesus found in Gospel of John, chapter 6 — where Jesus declares, “I am the Bread of Life.”

This moment comes right after the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand. The crowd had just experienced physical bread multiplied in their hands. But Jesus shifts their focus from temporary food to eternal nourishment. He tells them that while their ancestors ate manna in the wilderness during the time of Moses, they still eventually died. The bread He offers, however, gives eternal life.

When Jesus calls Himself the Bread of Life, He’s speaking to a basic human need. Bread was a staple — essential for survival. In the same way, He’s saying that He is essential for spiritual life. Just as bread sustains the body, Christ sustains the soul.

This teaching also foreshadows the Last Supper, where Jesus breaks bread and connects it to His body — pointing toward His sacrifice. Believing in Him isn’t just intellectual agreement; it’s described as “eating” receiving, trusting, and fully depending on Him.

Today, we’re exploring a powerful paradox found in Scripture: the power of weakness.

In a world that celebrates strength, success, and self-sufficiency, the Bible presents a radically different message. In Second Corinthians 12:9, the Apostle Paul shares God’s words: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Paul even goes on to say that he will boast in his weaknesses so that Christ’s power may rest on him.

This theme runs throughout the Bible. From Moses doubting his ability to speak, to David defeating Goliath as an overlooked shepherd, to Jesus redefining victory through the cross, we see that God often chooses what seems weak by human standards to display His glory.

Weakness, isn’t about failure it’s about dependence. It’s the space where pride fades and faith grows. When we come to the end of our own strength, we begin to experience God’s strength in a deeper way.

The power of weakness reminds us that we don’t have to have it all together. In fact, it’s often in our most vulnerable moments that God does His greatest work.

Today we’re talking about what it really means to be equipped to love not just emotionally, but biblically.

In Scripture, love isn’t just a feeling; it’s a calling and a discipline. In 1 Corinthians 13, we’re told that love is patient, kind, not self-seeking, and not easily angered. That passage reframes love as action something we practice, not just something we feel.

Jesus takes it even deeper in John 13:34, saying, “Love one another as I have loved you.” That’s sacrificial love. It’s modeled by Christ Himself most powerfully seen in Romans 5:8, where we’re reminded that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

So how are we equipped to love like that? Through transformation. Galatians 5 talks about the fruit of the Spirit love, joy, peace, patience. These aren’t personality traits; they’re evidence of God working within us. We don’t manufacture this kind of love on our own we receive it from God and reflect it outward.

Jesús lo lleva aún más profundo en Juan 13:34, cuando dice: “Ámense unos a otros como yo los he amado.” Ese es un amor sacrificial. Un amor modelado por Cristo mismo visto de manera poderosa en Romanos 5:8, donde se nos recuerda que, aun siendo pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros.

In the New Testament, baptism is closely tied to repentance and faith. Jesus himself was baptized, not because he needed cleansing, but to identify with humanity and model obedience to God. Later, his followers are baptized as an outward expression of an inward change—a public declaration that they’ve chosen to leave their old life behind and step into a new one with God.

The Bible teaches that God never asks us to choose wisely without first equipping us to do so. Scripture tells us that wisdom begins with reverence for the Lord, not with pressure or fear. Proverbs reminds us that when we trust in God with all our heart and don’t rely solely on our own understanding, He promises to direct our paths.

We’re equipped through God’s Word, which acts like a lamp for our steps, giving light just enough for the next decision. We’re also equipped through prayer, where we’re invited to ask God for wisdom freely and without shame, knowing He delights in guiding His children.

 Scripture never pretends that problems don’t hurt but it does tell us they’re never pointless. The Bible shows us that God often uses hardship as a tool for growth, refinement, and deeper trust.

James 1 says trials test our faith and produce perseverance. In other words, problems don’t mean God has abandoned us they can mean He’s developing something in us that comfort never could. Romans 8 reminds us that God works all things together for good, even the painful parts we don’t yet understand.

¿Cómo me prepara una familia de iglesia para la vida?

Cuando hablamos de una familia de iglesia, no nos referimos solo a un lugar al que asistimos los domingos, sino a una comunidad diseñada por Dios que nos forma para cada área de la vida. Bíblicamente, la iglesia es llamada el cuerpo de Cristo (1 Corintios 12), lo que significa que crecemos más fuertes juntos que solos.

Una familia de iglesia nos prepara a través del crecimiento espiritual. Al aprender la Palabra de Dios juntos, somos enseñados, animados y corregidos con amor para madurar en nuestra fe (Efesios 4:11–13). Este fundamento nos ayuda a tomar decisiones sabias, soportar dificultades y vivir con propósito.

También nos prepara por medio de las relaciones y la responsabilidad mutua. La Escritura nos recuerda que “hierro con hierro se aguza” (Proverbios 27:17). En una familia de iglesia encontramos personas que oran con nosotros, caminan a nuestro lado en los desafíos de la vida y nos ayudan con amor a mantenernos alineados con la voluntad de Dios.
