Vintage City Church | God Is Really Here Among You • Pt. 3

I want to finish up this teaching based upon the phrase, “God is really here among you.”

Last week, we looked at:

A. Psalm 100v4 – The process of moving into an encounter with God through worship.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.

1. Make the decision to enter

2. Go with gratitude.

3. Advance with praise.

4. Settle in adoration.

B. Psalm 22v3 – The Promise of His dwelling.

Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.

The promise that He is drawn to the authentic, clamorously foolish worship of those who are completely dependent on Him.

This week, I want to finish this conversation with a third text:

C. Psalm 68v24-26 – The promise of His activity where He is worshipped.

Your procession has come into view, O God—

  the procession of my God and King as he goes into the sanctuary.

procession – a walk.

The root picture for the glyph in the Hebrew is a shepherd’s staff, indicating the nomadic movements of a shepherd through the desert.

Consider this to be a word that points to the movements or activity of our Shepherd.

Note: We are not talking about the abiding Presence of God. We are specifically speaking of the activity and movement of our King.

Nomadic shepherds naturally go with the herd.

What if our God is naturally inclined to go where His worshippers dwell?

Come into view – to make visible

The word is literally, “to be on display.”

In this context, we are talking about the activity of God that is visible. This is not a conversation about just, “knowing,” He is in the room. It is the promise of, “seeing,” these movements.

His movements as he comes into a specific place…

into the sanctuary – a place of honor, sacred, set apart for Him

There is a natural draw for the Lord to places where He is honored.

There is a natural draw for the Lord to places and times that have been set apart for Him.

Singers are in front, musicians behind;

between them are young women playing tambourines.

This is a template for supernatural worship. It is fueled by the hearts of the people going FIRST.
