​​The Only Gay in the Village is a touching documentary that tells the stories of LGBTQ+ individuals who have lived as the sole gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans or queer person in their towns or villages. 

The hour-long heartwarming documentary is narrated by Ian H Watkins from the pop group Steps. Ian who grew up in the beautiful serene town Cwm-parc in Wales,  describes his experience of growing up as “tough” due to the lack of representation around him and would often feel like the “only gay in the village”,  which the documentary goes onto explore with a variety of contributors from the LGBTQ+ community.

Dan Gillespie Sells is perhaps best known as the lead vocalist and frontman for the rock group The Feeling. Outside of the band Dan has been very busy, composing the score for the hit west end musicial Everybody’s Talking About Jamie and, more recently, Brokeback Mountain.

Dan chats to Steve about his coming out journey, the beginnings of The Feeling, working on West End musicals and some exciting projects still in the works.

Bisi Alimi is the founder and the Executive Director of the Bisi Alimi Foundation, an organisation working to accelerate social acceptance of LGBTQ+ people in Nigeria.

The charity’s aim is work towards a Nigeria where everyone is equal irrespective of Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity. 

This is a fascinating chat where Bisi talks through his troubled childhood growing up in Nigeria, the state of LGBTQ+ rights in Africa and the incredibly important work of his charity.
