But Jesus’ didn’t live a life under the influence of fear and we shouldn’t either. By daily anchoring our lives into His Word and contending for the freedom that He has won for us, we too can receive His supernatural peace; transforming us from worriers to warriors.

Dave Lamerton | 1 Samuel 16:6-13, 17:34-36,40-47; Numbers 13-14; Joshua 1:9— With utter confidence in the faithfulness of His mighty God, David - a mere shepherd boy - defeated an entire army. Whether on a literal battlefield or not, we all face ‘Goliaiths’ of some kind in our lives. But we are not called to respond in fear. Rather, as we learn to fight our giants with God’s perspective and strategy, we too can step forward in courage and see Him win the victory.

Adam Ritchard | 2 Peter 3:11-18; Hebrews 12:1-2; Matthew 7:24-27; John 15:4-5 — As God’s people we are not to be tossed around by the wind and the waves of this world. In the midst of adversity there is a call for us to be people who are steadfast and anchored into Jesus: keeping Him as our reference point, building on His Word, and growing in the knowledge of He who is perfectly steadfast towards us.

Adam Ritchard | Matthew 12:33-37, 15:18-20; James 3:1-12; Proverbs 18:21; Psalm 19:14; Judges 6:11-17; Ephesians 4:29 — The manner in which we speak about ourselves, others, and our circumstances holds incredible power - to bless, curse, save or even condemn. Our words are our imprint on the world around us. Only by the work of the Holy Spirit can this imprint be one that brings life; reflecting and pointing towards our Saviour Jesus.

James Edwards | John 13:33-35; 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:7 — God has redeemed us for more than just escaping Hell. We are to be representatives of Him. But all that we might say or do for Him is reduced to noise if we do not have love. When people encounter you, do they experience the love of Christ?

Kathryn Hartley | John 14:15-27, 16:4-14; Ephesians 2:4-5; 2 Corinthians 3:16-18; Romans 8:9-1 — The world would have us believe that the power to change ourselves lies within. However the truth of Scripture reveals something very different: we cannot and will not change, except by the sanctifying and experiential power of the Holy Spirit. For the believer, this true transformation is the essential marker that we do indeed belong to Christ.

Adam Ritchard | Isaiah 6:1-8; Acts 2:43, 5:11, 9:31; Luke 11:2; Psalm 25:12-14; 1 Peter 1:14-19 — Right throughout scripture we see a call to live with awe and ‘fear’ before the holiness and majesty of God. In Isaiah’s commissioning, this response of reverence was the essential starting point for a life of repentant obedience. And the same is true for us: we too are called to be people marked by our reverence, living our lives in response to the God who is holy, righteous and merciful beyond measure.

David Brookes | Luke 2:1-21 — Joy is not an optional extra. Gifted to us by the Holy Spirit and founded in the hope brought by the birth, death, and Resurrection of Christ, this deep happiness ought to be ever-present in the life of a believer.

Adam Ritchard | Exodus 33:1-16; 1 Corinthians 1:2 — With the Promised Land, provision, and protection all granted, Moses still refused to lead the Israelites onwards unless God’s presence went with them. As God’s children we are called to lives that are ‘set apart’ from the world around us. Far beyond worldly success or the blessings that we receive from Him, our lives ought to be marked by the priority and pursuit of God Himself.
