6.2 Connect with Hannah Hall, 2 degrees of separation
While talking with a dear friend of mine, who always asks how my podcasts are going and who is very supportive of my many ventures, I decided to ask her if she would like to be a guest on my podcast! After a quick hesitation, she said yes. Today, after picking her up after her second COVID vaccine shot, we went to a local park to eat dinner.
This location is near where we both lived. For several years, Hannah and I lived only a few blocks from each other. When the bomb scare went off on in Oahu, Hannah and I were on the phone virtually holding hands comforting each other in what we believed were going to be our last moments this lifetime. After that “this is not a test” announcement passed, andwe lived another day, we agreed to stay connected.
Since then, we have both moved in opposite directions, and we have kept our promises to stay connected. Even when life’s challenges pull us temporarily apart, our friendship endures.
One more thing before I share this special person with you. To answer the question, how does this relate to Eyes On Profits? The theme is still connection.
Hannah plays with words. She has an eye condition she calls Blephasorius. I understand she is talking about her eyelids drooping because they are aggravated, causing her vision to be obstructed. This is not a ptosis. Anyway, I recently connected with a new Ophthalmologist to me. You just connected the dots. This doctor has been treating Hannah for many years.
We hear of this 6 degrees of separation, and in this case, it was only 2 degrees.
In many networking organizations, they ask: Who do you know who can benefit from the services I provide? This is an example of how that works. Now, I did not meet this doctor from Hannah. Why? I didn’t ask her. It wasn’t on my radar.
So this is my outreach and challenge to you: Who do you know who is losing their vision to age-related macular degeneration? Please let them know about me, and have them contact me at [email protected]. Next, you do the same thing. Next time you talk with a friend, or make a social media post, instead of asking for yourself, ask if they know someone you could connect with. Practicing this tid-bit makes it easier to do on a regular basis.
On that note, enjoy my ‘in the park’ interview with Hannah Hall.
