What if the thing you keep trying to change isn’t actually the problem?

In John 4, Jesus meets a Samaritan woman who comes to a well looking for water—but Jesus sees a much deeper thirst. Pastor Joe shares how we often try to satisfy that same spiritual thirst by changing the “bucket”: more success, a different relationship, a better body, more control, more possessions, or simply trying harder.

But it’s not the bucket. It’s the well that needs to change.

Jesus called Peter and Andrew with three movements:

FOLLOW ME → I WILL MAKE YOU → FISHERS OF PEOPLE

Before Jesus sends us, He calls us close. And as we follow Him, He begins replacing the names our wounds, failures and past have given us with the identity our Father has already spoken over us.

You are chosen.

You are adopted.

You are accepted.

You are redeemed.

You are forgiven.

Your trauma may explain part of your story, but it does not get to write the end of your story.

And your story isn't meant to stop with you.

FOUND PEOPLE FIND PEOPLE.

You don't need a sermon. You have a story:

I WAS → THEN JESUS → SINCE THEN

What if the person God wants to reach is already right in front of you?

It’s easy to see someone hurting, searching, lonely, struggling, or far from Jesus and think, “Somebody should do something.”

But what if that somebody is you?

In Week 1 of The Spirit Sends Us, we look at what it means to stop living as spiritual bystanders and start recognizing that following Jesus means joining His mission.

Jesus doesn't only save us—He sends us. And He doesn't send us alone.

Through Acts 1 and the story of Moses, we see that God isn't looking for perfect or completely qualified people. He's looking for people willing to say:

“Here I am. Send me.”

The Holy Spirit empowers us.
The Holy Spirit goes with us.
The Holy Spirit uses our witness.

You don't need every answer. You don't need a seminary degree. You simply need to be willing to tell people what Jesus has done in your life.

God wants to use you. The question is: are you available?

But the power doesn't belong to us. Healing isn't a formula, and God isn't something we control. The Holy Spirit distributes His gifts as He wills. Our responsibility is to listen, trust, pray boldly, and make ourselves available.
