After six years and three different trials, suspended RNC Constable Doug Snelgrove has been found guilty of sexual assault.
In 2014 Snelgrove picked up an intoxicated young woman, drove her home in his cruiser, and sexually assaulted her while he was still on duty.
Snelgrove was arrested in 2015. His 2017 trial ended in a not guilty verdict, but that was overturned on an appeal due to a judge's error in instructing the jury. The second trial ended in a mistrial when the judge wrongly dismissed two jurors.
Heather Eliott, an activist who is herself a victim of sexual assault, was instrumental in mobilizing a public support group for Jane Doe. She speaks with VOCM's Gerri Lynn Mackey.
