The 2019 Human Rights Awards took place at Government House yesterday.
The 2019 Human Rights Award winner is Jessie Lawrence, a grade 12 student from Corner Brook Regional High. She is being recognised for being a 2SLGBTQ+ advocate as well as advocate for youth.
This years Human Right's Champion was awarded to Bridget Foster.
She is being recognised for work as an advocate for immigrants and refugees. She began her work as a volunteer with Friends of Refugees, which is now the Association for New Canadians.
