In 2021, Catholic Charities was chosen by the City of Chicago’s Department of Family Support Services to be one of eight partners to start a new program called SCaN, which is designed to help youth who are most at-risk of having their lives impacted by violence. Catholic Charities was asked to coordinate the program in the Austin community, due to our success in that neighborhood with the Tolton Peace Center.
