Along the way we talked about the weather, the landscape, and the simple joy of getting outside before realizing a storm was moving in faster than expected. After a hurried trek back to the car, we found refuge at a local sandwich shop Stone Market Village in Fort Davis) where the conversation shifted from trails and thunderstorms to food, pet rescue, and the connections that form between people, animals, and the communities they call home.
