A former first U.S. Deputy Undersecretary of Defense (Environmental Security) and staff member on the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, Goodman has founded, led, or advised nearly a dozen research organizations on environmental and energy matters, national security and public policy. She is credited with educating a generation of U.S. military and government officials about the nexus between climate change and national security, using her famous coinage, “threat multiplier,” to fundamentally reshape the national discourse on the topic.

Guest: Vicky Tauli-Corpuz, Founder and Executive Director of Tetebba Foundation in the Philippines. This foundation works for the respect, protection and fulfillment of indigenous peoples’ rights and operationalization of indigenous peoples’ self-determined sustainable development. Vicky is an indigenous leader from the Kankana-ey Igorot people of the Cordillera Region in the Philippines. She was appointed as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples by the Human Rights Council in 2014, and served until April 2020.

Guest: Beth Sua Carvajal Martinez, Community and Social Development Officer, WWF Colombia. Beth Sua is an environmental engineer committed to search for the peaceful transformation of social and environmental conflicts in Colombia. In the last decade, Beth Sua has worked with small farmer families who live in and/or make use of protected areas highly affected by armed conflict. Currently, Beth Sua coordinates the Project “Protected Areas & Peace” that aims to strengthen peacebuilding and conservation efforts in six National Parks in Colombia.

Story of: Isabela San Roque. Isabela was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and joined the former FARC guerrilla in 2004. She defines herself as a revolutionary, feminist and environmentalist. While she was a FARC militant, she spent most of her time living in the Sierra de La Macarena National Natural Park and its surrounding departments. In 2016, Isabela became a signatory of the Peace Agreement in Colombia, and after demobilizing, she joined the ex-FARC political party “Comunes” and works on issues related to the environment, conflict resolution, and women's rights. She is currently a member of the Colombian National Peace Council, where she works on reconciliation and truth.

Guest: Dr. Julia Gorricho: Senior Project Manager South America, WWF Germany. Julia is a passionate Colombian anthropologist with more than 15 years of experience on biodiversity conservation; environmental governance & rights; Nature based solutions and conflict sensitive conservation. In 2015, Julia received the "Marjan-Marsh" award from King's College London (UK), for her contributions to the conservation of biodiversity in areas of armed conflict.
