In today's episode, I interview Monroe Murphy, who is autistic and owns a float tank business in the Chicago area. We discuss how autism is a different consciousness and how float tanks can serve to problem-solve and regulate the sensitive nervous systems of neurodivergent people.
Murphy Monroe is an autistic speaker, writer, and sensory wellness advocate who serves as a Commissioner for Aging and Disabilities in Evanston, Illinois. He is the owner of a sensory deprivation float spa and the creator of Love, Autism, a solo performance piece told through letters that explore healing, memory, and the autistic experience. With over 1,000 hours spent in float tanks, Murphy brings a deeply personal understanding of nervous system regulation, trauma integration, and alternative pathways to wellness. His work bridges the worlds of advocacy, storytelling, and embodied healing.Monroe's linkshttps://www.murphymonroe.com/https://www.linkedin.com/in/murphymonroe/
