  • SKAI ISYOURGOD’s Cantonese Drip Takes Over the West

Catchy melodies and TikTok virality makes SKAI ISYOURGOD a global sound.

Chinese rapper SKAI ISYOURGOD (揽佬) lays down a unique lane in global hip-hop with anchors in Cantonese and Hakka cultures with a sound reminiscent of Memphis-style rap.

His 2024 sophomore album Stack from All Sides (八方来财) broke through in the West.  The lead track of the plural name (八方來財) draws comparisons to a Metro Boomin production for its cold, haunting melody surrounded with booming 808s. SKAI ISYOURGOD’s understated Mandarin Mob boss flow includes lyrics that translate into “come wealth, come.”

The lyrics misheard as “Sushi don’t lie” sparked trends on TikTok turning SKAI’s boast into a bizarre catchphrase.  Further popularization of the Cantonese-influenced song came from its inclusion on the NBA 2K26 soundtrack.

“Stacks from All Sides” is SKAI’s most popular Spotify track with over 113 million plays.

Its music video segues into “Karma Code” (因果), a track with percussion akin to Memphis rap.

“Blueprint Supreme” (大展鴻圖) became an immediate cultural lightning rod for its high-pitched sample of the famous 1957 Cantonese opera The Flower Princess (帝女花).  SKAI’s lyrics describe grand ambitions of wealth with mention of items found in lavish Cantonese homes including karaoke sets, fish tanks, and tea sets.

The 27-year-old artist is from Huizhou, Guangdong and studied performing arts in Sichuan.

His recent popularity has yielded 3.9 million monthly Spotify listeners – the most of any Chinese artist.  Many of his followers claim 0% understanding but 100% vibing.

  • Asia’s Elite Airlines Set Luxe Standards

Asian airlines set global benchmark for luxury flying experiences with award winning fleets and exceptional Economy and Business Class service.

Welcome aboard where today, Goldsea will take you to discover Asia’s skies in three of their most luxurious airlines.

Starting off in Japan, where ANA (All Nippon Airways) has become one of Asia’s biggest full service airlines. Founded in 1952, ANA’s philosophy comes from the Japanese concept of omotenashi, which involves thoughtfulness and proactive service. Economy class is often described as top notch with multiple restaurant-quality dishes, fancy utensils, and unlimited tea service.

“The Room” is ANA’s Business Class option and it is an experience to remember with roomy sofa-like seating, sliding doors for privacy, and full seafood meals. ANA’s major hubs are based in Tokyo and Osaka which serve multiple cities across Asia, North America, and Europe, connecting Japan with the rest of the world.

Next up is Singapore Airlines, a name always included in “the most luxurious airline” conversation. SIA was founded in 1972 and operates one of the newest and most modern fleets globally. The company consistently ranks in the top 3 airlines worldwide with their philosophy that is built around consistent excellence. Singapore Airlines’ Economy Class is actually comfortable and has more features than other airlines such as more legroom, adjustable seats, and built-in entertainment.

Book SIA’s Business Class for a true premium experience with wide seats that convert into beds, a full entertainment system, and a “Book the Cook” service which allows you to pre-order meals from a chef’s special menu, which is then served on Givenchy tableware. Singapore Airlines serves over 130 destinations around the world and remains as a top contender for “Best Asian Airline”.

Finally, with a home base at Hong Kong International Airport, Cathay Pacific is one of Asia’s oldest and most respected airlines. Established in 1946, Cathay has always been known for its strong safety record, fuel efficient fleet, and modern Hong-Kong aesthetic. Cathay’s Economy Class is referred to as the “World’s Best Economy” because of their ergonomically designed seating, large touch screen TVs, and complimentary food and drink.

Business Class on Cathay Pacific is, of course, another luxury travel experience, especially in The Aria Suite, which gives you full privacy, flat beds with adjustable lighting, Bamford skincare, and a 24” 4K television. Cathay Pacific’s network spans internationally across Asia, North America, Europe, and the Middle East standing as one of the world’s leading long-haul airlines.

These three Asian airlines represent the highest peak of aviation and continue to set global standards for what air travel should truly look like.

  • Thai Lee’s Organic Path to a Multi-Billion-Dollar Empire

Thai Lee grew SHI International from a small software reseller into a $16B tech powerhouse and is now spearheading innovation with a new AI focus.

Thai Lee is President and CEO of SHI International, the largest Minority- and Woman-Owned Business Enterprise in the U.S. with over $16 billion in annual revenues.

Lee and then-husband Leo Koguan decided to pay less than $1 million for a failing software reseller in 1989 because its client list included major companies like IBM and AT&T.

Lee renamed their purchase Software House International to reflect their global ambitions.  Initially Lee held the Chairman title while Koguan was CEO.  They quickly swapped titles after seeing that Lee was better at running day-to-day operation.

Lee’s skilled leadership allowed the company to grow organically, thereby preserving their stake in the absence of large-scale mergers.

SHI International’s initial growth was based on securing and serving large enterprise clients.  Their early success solidified the firm’s strength in market segments that would evolve into Enterprise/Global and Public Sector divisions.

SHI is currently a provider of IT infrastructure, end-user computing, cybersecurity, and IT optimization products and services to schools and governmental agencies.  It’s headquartered in Piscataway, New Jersey, with 7,000 employees serving more than 17,000 organizations in 35 countries.  The firm is renowned for its industry-high 99% customer retention rate.

Recently SHI has invested heavily in artificial intelligence through its new AI & Cyber Labs to maintain its position as a technology innovator.

Today Lee’s net worth stands at $7.5B.

Prior to co-founding SHI Lee held roles at Procter & Gamble and American Express.

Lee’s given name reflects her birth in Bangkok to Korean parents who raised her in Korea until she attended high school in Massachusetts due to the efforts of Lee’s father, an economist, to secure the best education possible for his daughter.

In 1976 Lee enrolled at Amherst College as part of their first class to allow women.  She also became the first Korean American woman to enter Harvard Business School and earned an MBA in 1985.

  • How Two First-Gen College Students Rewrote the College Admissions Playbook

Hanmei Wu and Changxiao Xie built Empowerly to helps students and families navigate college admissions with personalized support and affordable guidance.

For anyone who has ever been caught in the college admissions process, you know it can get stressful, but for many first-generation students, students born into immigrant families, or anyone without a support system, the process can feel nearly impossible.

Fortunately that gap of guidance is no longer missing thanks to the development of Empowerly, one of the best college-counseling start ups and it was founded by two students who lived through those challenges themselves.

Hanmei Wu and Changxiao Xie were both first-generation college students and family friends from Texas who attended UC Berkeley. In 2018, they decided that top-tier college guidance should not feel like a luxury and their solution to this issue would become what is known today as Empowerly.

After graduating from Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, Wu went to work at Goldman Sachs before joining Teach For America where she was often finding herself helping students one-on-one outside of the classroom with FAFSA questions and college admissions. At the same time, Xie was navigating his own admissions process as he earned his spot at Princeton University to study electrical engineering.

Wu and Xie put both their skillsets together and set off to create a model that would combine human counselors with data-driven tools to offer customized support for students. Rather than solely relying on a school’s busy counselor, Empowerly can match each student with experienced mentors and create a tailored roadmap for their college plans, something Wu, Xie, and many other students never had.

Empowerly joined UC Berkeley’s SkyDeck accelerator in 2019, which was an extremely important factor for the company’s early growth and initial funding. In 2020, Empowerly secured over $1.6M in funding which would help expand their offerings, build their team, and perfect operations. From there, Empowerly’s momentum only continued to grow.

In 2021 Wu and Xie were featured on Forbes 30 Under 30 List where they were recognized as leaders in the EdTech space and in 2022, over $10M in funding was raised to launch the Empowerly mobile app. That same year, the company recorded that 95% of their students gained admission to a top 50 U.S. college and that their admissions rates to top colleges were 11 times higher than the national average.

Empowerly’s most recent funding round reached $30M in 2024, highlighting the company’s success and commitment to guiding students through the challenging admissions process. In less than a decade Hanmei Wu and Changxiao Xie have kept their promise to students that they’ll never have to navigate admissions alone and that promise is what will inspire the next generation to dream even bigger because they do have the right support in their corner.

  • Google Joins Newest Race to Power AI from Space

Skyrocketing AI data-center energy demands drive Google’s radical orbital data center project which aims to tap the sun directly to access “one hundred trillion times more energy than we produce on Earth today.”

Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai recently escalated the AI arms race into orbit by confirming the company will start building experimental data centers in space by 2027.  Dubbed Project Suncatcher, the project is Google’s answer to the energy crisis fueled by power-hungry AI models.  Pichai says the project aims to tap the sun for “one hundred trillion times more energy than we produce on Earth today”.

The deployment will rely on constellations of specialized satellites packed with Google’s custom Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) linked by high-speed free-space optical connections.

Initial ground-based testing of the concept has already begun.  Google is enlisting satellite company Planet Labs to launch two prototype platforms housing the AI chips in 2027.  Pichai asserts that within a decade building extraterrestrial data centers will become commonplace.

Acknowledging SpaceX’s competing plans, he quipped, “Maybe we’ll meet a Tesla Roadster which is going around there too.”

On October 31 Elon Musk posted on X that SpaceX will be a player in this innovation, writing “Simply scaling up Starlink V3 satellites, which have high speed laser links would work.”

Solar-powered AI satellites, he noted with typical Muskian optimism, will be the most cost-efficient way to power AI processing within a five-year timeframe.

Jeff Bezos has predicted that gigawatt-scale orbital data centers will become practical in 10 to 20 years, citing the model’s inherent sustainability.  However, he hasn’t made any specific commitment to join the newest Space Race alongside Pichai and Musk due to concerns about upfront and maintenance costs.

Initial launch costs for a one-gigawatt system range between $13 billion and $25 billion.

Engineering challenges include deploying millions of square meters of radiator arrays to cool the custom hardware while establishing reliable, high-speed laser networking between hundreds of orbital platforms, not to mention massive arrays of solar panels to capture vast amounts of solar energy in the first place.

  • Tatsuro Taira Looks Like the Future of Flyweight

UFC submission ace Tatsuro Taira enters a high-stakes matchup against former champion Brandon Moreno as the betting favorite at UFC 323.

Japanese MMA fighter Tatsuro Taira burst onto the global scene in 2022 and established himself as a dominant force in the UFC Flyweight division.

The 25-year-old holds a professional fighting record of 17 wins and 1 loss, with 5 wins coming by knockout and 8 by submission.

Taira’s UFC debut came in May 2022 at UFC on ESPN 36 versus Carlos Candelario.  The fight went the distance but ended in a unanimous decision for Taira.

Taira’s peerless ground game earned Performance of the Night bonuses in his next two fights – first against C.J. Vergara through armbar submission, a favorite grappling technique, followed by triangle armbar versus Jesús Santos Aguilar in the first round.

In June 2024 Taira headlined his first UFC fight against Alex Perez.  He won by TKO with a brutal leg kick on his way to a third Performance of the Night declaration.

His only loss came in October 2024 in split decision against Brandon Royval after 25 minutes of fighting.

Taira bounced back this August against Park Hyun-sung after applying a face crank submission in the second round.

He’s now climbed his way to the number five contender slot in the Flyweight division and is looking to earn his eighth UFC win against Brandon Moreno in Saturday’s UFC 323.

Moreno, a former champion, is rated higher – second in the Flyweight division – betting lines slightly favor Taira.  Moreno is an experienced pressure fighter that will want to utilize his striking capabilities.  Taira’s path to victory will be to turn the fight into a grappling match.

  • Raj Murti, Age 23, Orchestrates UNT’s Record Winning Season

Football’s youngest GM delivered 11 wins and a potential College Football Playoff bid for North Texas with an analytics-driven “Moneyball” operation.

Raj Murti has proven to be college football’s most dynamic front-office talent in just his first season as North Texas’ General Manager.

At the age of 23 he became the nation’s youngest GM, overseeing the roster, recruiting and personnel departments.  Murti calls the experience a “whirlwind.”   In his first two weeks he had to assess the monetary value of each player, something he had never done before.

With only $2 million, the smallest roster budget in the American Conference, Murti orchestrated the college football version of Moneyball.  UNT being in DFW, a football recruiting hotbed, Murti focused on high school players while leaning on analytics for transfers.

In the pay-for-play era eased transfer rules, the inception of NIL collectives and revamped revenue sharing models have made the general manager role a necessity.  Top-tier program GMs earn high 6-figures, with the highest salaries hitting $1.5M annually.

Eight months into his job Murti’s North Texas is ranked 20th in the AP poll, its first appearance since 1959, thanks to its11 wins, the most in program history.   Murti’s eye for talent has helped build the nation’s top scoring offense, averaging 47 points and 512 yards per game.

The Mean Green are now favored to win the American Conference Championship game.  It would be their first title in over 20 years.  A win would put them in the college football playoff with an autobid as the highest rated Group of 6 champion.

Raj Murti, who is of Indian and Malaysian descent, began his football career at Arlington’s Martin High School as a student assistant helping with film, equipment, and scouting.  He made his first play call as a sophomore.

While still in high school he earned 52 hours of college credits making him a junior when he enrolled at the University of Houston.  In 2021 Murti graduated Summa Cum Laude in just 2 years with a BBA in finance.

Murti chose Houston after being introduced to Ryan Dorchester, the GM at the time.  The connection allowed him, at just 18, to join the Cougars as a recruiting intern.  He became Houston’s primary contact and evaluator for offensive recruits and earned a promotion to Assistant Director of Player Personnel in 2023.

At UH Murti secured the highest recruiting class since 2016 which included wide receiver Matthew Golden, a 2025 first-round pick in the NFL Draft.

The personnel prodigy followed Dorchester to TCU in 2024 as a Recruiting Coordinator and later Assistant Director of Player Personnel.  He helped the Horned Frogs land the Big 12’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class.

On December 1st it was reported that Murti will follow UNT head coach Eric Morris to Oklahoma State to become the youngest GM at the P4 level.

  • The Future of Walking Begins With Dephy

The world’s first commercial robotic exoskeleton footwear is in the works as Nike partners with bionic footwear company, Dephy.

When robotics don’t look like machines, they can look like everyday shoes and the brains at Dephy aren’t replacing our abilities, but restoring them instead. Dephy is designing the future of human movement, building some of the most advanced wearable technology in the world.

Founded in 2016, Dephy is a spin out from MIT's very own Media Lab which is known as a top research center globally. Dephy describes themselves as a bionic footwear and apparel company that has goals of empowering natural movement through robotics.

Their flagship product is the ExoBoot, one of the world’s first ankle exoskeletons to be available commercially. It is used in physical rehab centers, research labs, and even in military training environments. The exoskeleton uses a small motor and belt-drive system that helps assist your step, giving you a powerboost every time you move forward.

Since launching in 2016, Dephy has gone through 47 different hardware generations, meaning their pace of innovation is immaculate. In less than a decade, the company has been able to quickly improve their motors, sensors, batteries, and user experience, which is setting Dephy apart from any competition.

While robotics have mostly been found in laboratories or hospitals, Dephy is now pushing mobility technology into everyday lifestyles. Their newest system, Sidekick, is in the works and it is being designed to adapt to anyone’s natural walking patterns, making it easier to walk longer distances or just simply assist with everyday movements.

With this technology, Dephy has partnered with Nike who has recently unveiled Project Amplify, the brand’s first powered footwear blueprint. Project Amplify will combine a special Nike shoe with Dephy’s exoskeleton technology, a calf battery cuff, and sensors that analyze your stride in real time. It is being described as a “supportive extension of your legs” that helps reduce fatigue and maintain a consistent walking pace. This will be the very first time tech-powered daily footwear will be available to consumers and not just professionals. Nike has already reported over 400 tests that have been conducted while they are still in the prototype phase.

Dephy is looking to restore, support, and power the way humans move. What started as a niche company inside the MIT Media Lab has become a huge player in the next generation of wearable technology.
