As soon as Google announced the sunset of their failed social network, Google+ denizens began looking at alternatives. There’s plenty of time, the closure is scheduled for August 2019! Still, why invest any further time in a dying network? This week we talk about the many ways to communicate via open source platforms and software, especially the federated ones like Diaspora (and variants). An important step was taken with the creation of Pluspora, a Diaspora pod. This has already attracted thousands of former (and current) Google+ denizens. We’ll talk about how and why this was done with one or more of the creators.
