In this episode we discuss what it means to "protect your peace". We also discuss Jesus' response to the disciples when they returned from preaching, healing and exorcising demons. Jesus essentially tells them (and us) not to get too focused on the ability to preach, heal and kick out demons but rather focus on the fact that God is over all.

We're discussing Luke 9 today, talk about a jam packed chapter! We're to walk in the authority of Jesus that he has given us in order to continue his mission. While words like "power" and "authority" are exciting to talk about it is also humbling when you realize what following Jesus costs the believer, which is everything. In the midst of this Jesus feeds 5,000+ people with the little they have to offer. But isn't that beautiful? God takes the little we have to offer and when we entrust it to him he does more than we could have ever imagined!

At times we struggle to understand God's way. Learn from John the baptist, run to Jesus instead of away from him in the hard times!

Chapter 6 is Luke's version of the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus addresses many of the Old Testament laws but takes it a step further and gets to our heart. He ends the chapter with a powerful question, "Why do you say to me Lord Lord but not do what I say?" A powerful and convicting question we need to answer as well. Let's dive in!

There's a saying that goes, "identity determines destiny". We see Luke making that point here with the genealogy of Jesus and as John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus. It's important to note the Holy Spirit and his role in this stage of God's saving work.
