Kalen DeBoer to USC? Coaching rumors and speculation are heating up around the Alabama Football head coach as pressure continues to build around Lincoln Riley at USC.
On Wednesday's Wake Up Bama, Kyle Henderson separates rumor from what is actually known about the Kalen DeBoer–USC conversation and discusses why DeBoer's future at Alabama is suddenly becoming a national topic.
DeBoer signed a contract extension in April keeping him at Alabama through January 2033, while the Crimson Tide is 4-0 and building around an incredibly talented young core led by quarterback Keelon Russell. Alabama's offense is producing at an elite level, the young roster continues to develop and DeBoer has repeatedly emphasized blocking out outside noise and maintaining emotional maturity.
Could USC realistically pursue DeBoer if it moves on from Lincoln Riley? Why would DeBoer consider leaving Alabama? Could Ryan Grubb eventually become a head-coaching candidate if Alabama's explosive offense continues rolling? And what does Alabama's young roster tell us about the future of the program?
Then we turn the focus back to Alabama vs. Mississippi State. Keelon Russell faces Kamario Taylor in one of the most intriguing quarterback matchups of Week 5, while Kane Wommack's Alabama defense looks to improve after allowing 890 total yards over the last two games.
Can Alabama block out the distractions and move to 5-0? Is this Kalen DeBoer's best Alabama team? How confident should fans be in Kane Wommack's defense?
