Missouri's state treasurer is asking state lawmakers to support a bill to expand the maximum capacity for the popular MOBUCK$ program by $400-million. Treasurer Vivek Malek joined us live on 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Mid-Missouri" this morning, telling listeners that demand was so great on the first business day that all available funding was exhausted in six hours. MOBUCK$ was started in 1985 by then-Missouri Treasurer Wendell Bailey (R) and has been used by treasurers in both parties. Treasurer Malek describes it as Missouri money issued in Missouri to help Missouri:

State Sen. Bill Eigel (R-Weldon Spring) is pushing hard for a personal property tax cut this session. He notes 29 other states have eliminated personal property taxes. He describes the personal property tax as the crime you pay for owning your vehicle each December. Senator Eigel joined us live this morning on 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Mid-Missouri", slamming State Sen. Mike Bernskoetter (R-Jefferson City) by name on-air. Senator Eigel tells listeners that Senator Bernskoetter held up a personal property tax cut in 2023 to try to expand gambling. Eigel tells listeners that he's prepared to filibuster every day on the Missouri Senate floor, to get a personal property tax cut. He's also prepared to read the dictionary on the Senate floor:

The Missouri Supreme Court has scheduled an April 9 execution date for convicted double killer Brian Dorsey. The 51-year-old New Bloomfield man is under two death sentences for shooting and killing his cousin Sarah Bonnie and her husband Ben Bonnie on Christmas Eve 2006. Both victims were shot in the head with a shotgun. Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey joined us live on 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Mid-Missouri" from the Governor's prayer breakfast in Jefferson City, telling listeners that Dorsey should be executed. Bailey rejects criticism from death penalty opponents that lethal injection is cruel and unusual punishment. General Bailey also says the most important First Amendment lawsuit in our nation's history is before the U.S. Supreme Court, noting his office will argue the case in March in Washington:

Missouri Governor Mike Parson (R) has appointed former State Sen. Dan Hegeman (R-Cosby) and former St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay (D) to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission. Both men will need to be confirmed by the Missouri Senate by the end of January. Hegeman served as the Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee chair for several years and fought for funding for rural roads during that time.
