Missouri House Republicans will have another supermajority when the 2023 legislative session begins in early January in Jefferson City. Republicans will control the chamber 111-52. Republicans caucused this week at the Capitol, electing State Rep. Mike Henderson (R-Bonne Terre) as House Speaker Pro Tem and Rep. Jon Patterson (R-Lee's Summit) as Majority Floor Leader. Faughn says the majority leader's race was close and says there is significance to Representative Henderson's election as Speaker Pro Tem. Henderson is a former school administrator. Missouri Republicans will now control every statewide office for the first time in a century, according to state auditor-elect Scott Fitzpatrick. The Shell Knob Republican defeated former State Rep. Alan Green (D-Florissant) in the auditor’s race, which was an open seat. Fitzpatrick tells 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Mid-Missouri" that few of Missouri's 525 school districts have been audited recently by state auditors. Fitzpatrick intends to change that, saying two-thirds of Missouri children are not proficient in math and science while record funding goes to public schools:

Former State Rep. Kip Kendrick (D-Columbia) will be Boone County's next presiding commissioner. Mr. Kendrick defeated businesswoman Connie Leipard by about 8,000 votes in Tuesday's election. It was a clean campaign. Kendrick joined us live on 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Mid-Missouri," telling listeners that Connie is a good person who ran for the right reasons.
