Season 23: Angelology — Episode 8: Godly Warriors
NEW! Watch us ONLINE! Click here!
Show Notes :
We serve a God of order and design. Angels play an important role in God’s plan for believers by guarding and protecting them. Protection in Scripture isn’t only physical—it is also spiritual.
Angels fall into two categories: the “unfallen” angels and the fallen angels. Unfallen angels are those who have remained sinless throughout their existence and are accordingly called “holy angels.” The fallen angels are those who sinned and rebelled against God. Satan’s rebellion is described in the Bible as a spiritual revolt driven by pride, leading to his expulsion from heaven (Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:12-18; Revelation 12:7-9).
The apostle Paul describes the armor of God, which enables believers to resist and stand firm in the spiritual battle.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Ephesians 6:10-13
He presents the powerful pieces of the armor (vv. 14-17). Every piece is defensive except one—the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet fitted with the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation. The sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, is the only offensive weapon in the list.
Head to Heart
Think about an area of your life right now where you feel spiritually under attack — maybe it's a persistent doubt, a temptation, or a discouragement that keeps circling back. Psalm 34:7 says the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him. That's not a one-time rescue; it's a standing guard. Ask yourself: Do I truly believe I'm being watched over — or am I fighting this battle alone, relying on my own strength?

NEW! Watch us ONLINE! Click here!
SHOW NOTES:
From the first chapters of Genesis to the book of Acts, Scripture shows us angels standing watch—guarding sacred ground, encamping around God's people, shutting the mouths of lions, and even opening prison doors. This isn't a side theme in the Bible. It's woven throughout Scripture.
· After Adam and Eve are removed from the Garden, God places cherubim with flaming swords at the entrance to guard the way to the tree of life (Genesis 3:24).
· A familiar Bible story is Daniel in the lions' den. After spending the night with the lions, Daniel tells the king, "My God sent His angel, and He shut the mouths of the lions" (Daniel 6:22).
· The prophet Elisha and his servant were surrounded by the Aramean army. Elisha asks God to open the servant’s eyes—the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire (2 Kings 6:17).
· In Acts 12, Peter is imprisoned for a second time, chained between two guards — and an angel appears. His chains fall off, and the angel leads him right past the guards and through the gates, which open by themselves.
For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
Psalm 91:11
Head to Heart:
Remember — Daniel wasn't kept out of the lions' den. Peter was freed, but James was not. Protection in Scripture doesn't always look like avoiding hardship altogether; sometimes it looks like God's presence sustaining us during it.
Is there a trial you've been praying only for God to remove, when maybe He's asking you to trust His presence within it? What would it look like to shift that prayer from "get me out" to "meet me here"?

Season 23: Angelology | #6 – Worthy of All Praise

SHOW NOTES:
In this season on Angelology, we are pulling back the curtain, as much as Scripture allows, on the unseen world God created alongside our own. We serve a God of order and design. From the very first page of Scripture, Genesis 1 shows us a Creator who doesn't work in chaos — He speaks light from darkness, separates the waters, sets the sun and moon on their courses, and calls it good. Every act of creation reflects His purpose, His harmony, His plan. And that same order extends beyond what we can see with our eyes.
Last time, we met Michael — the archangel named in Jude 9 and Revelation 12:7, a warrior who contends for God's people. We also looked at the Chief Princes described in Daniel 10 and got our first glimpse of just how structured and purposeful the angelic realm really is. Nothing about it is random. Nothing about it is an afterthought.
So that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 3:10
According to tradition, there are nine “choirs of Angels” grouped into three "hierarchies," with each group having an overall mission. This type of angelic organization is argued for by St. Thomas Aquinas in his Summa Theologiae.
The top hierarchy includes Seraphim, Cherubim, and Thrones. This first hierarchy of angels is closest to God and remains in His presence, focused on pure love and justice.
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”
Isaiah 6:1-3
HEAD TO HEART: If seraphim — created to dwell in God's presence — respond to His holiness by covering their faces and humbling themselves, what does that teach us about how we approach Him? Do we come casually, or in awe? Do we remember that the God we walk with daily is the same God whose glory is too bright even for angels to behold? And yet — this same God invites us near, not to hide from Him in fear, but to walk with Him, to know Him, and to be transformed over time in His presence.

Season 23: Angelology | #5 – The Order of Angels
NEW! Watch us ONLINE! Click here!
SHOW NOTES:
Neat, orderly, and organized. What do these words bring to mind? Perhaps you nod and smile. “Yes, that’s exactly how I like my life to run.” Others may cringe and say, “Those words feel confining and limit my creativity and imagination.”
He made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows its time for setting.
Psalm 104:19
The heavenly bodies operate with precise predictability. It makes perfect sense that God’s heavenly messengers and ministering spirits follow His command. They are organized and prepared to serve God Almighty. In God’s order and design, there are several distinct classifications of angels.
The Archangel named Michael – Jude 9
Chief Princes – Daniel 10:12-13
Ruling Angels – 1 Peter 1:12
The ultimate goal of both creation and redemption is the display of God’s wisdom. This wisdom, displayed in creation and embodied in Christ, has been hidden from the angelic realm and is now being witnessed as they watch God’s plan unfold.
HEAD TO HEART: Do you believe this? God watches over each one of His children. Yet, He has set holy angels as our defenders. When the Evil One attacks, we should cry out to the Lord and ask for His protection.

Season 23: Angelology | #4 – Innumerable Angels
NEW! Watch us ONLINE! Click here!
SHOW NOTES:
Angels were created by God, and they serve as His messengers.
For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him.
Colossians 1:16
They are ministering spirits to people, yet distinct from human beings. Angels are powerful, and they obey the Lord’s commands. They are waiting and ready to obey God.
This truth is a powerful application for believers. Do we read or hear God’s Word and then actively apply the truth to our lives – thoughts, words, and actions?
Bless the Lord, O you His angels, you mighty ones who do His word, obeying the voice of His word!

Season 23: Angelology | #3 – Ministering Spirits
NEW! Watch us ONLINE! Click here!
SHOW NOTES:
Angels were created by God before the physical universe and the earth were made. They are His messengers, and Jesus affirmed their existence when He was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matt. 26).
For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him.
Colossians 1:16
Jesus is superior to the angels. They are His ministering spirits, and have been sent by Him to serve.
So, He became as much superior to the angels as the name He has inherited is superior to theirs. For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are My Son, today I have begotten You”? And again, when He brings the firstborn into the world, He says, “Let all God’s angels worship Him.” Of the angels He says, “He makes His angels winds, and His ministers a flame of fire.”
Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
Hebrews 1:4-7, 14
HEAD TO HEART:
Even though we are not sure how angels are “ministering spirits" who are “sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation,” God’s Word tells us this is true.
Believers (each of us) are somehow ministered to by angels! We should be thankful and praise the Lord for His provision of angels who minister and watch over us.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
Psalm 91:1, 11

Season 23: Angelology | #2 – Open His Eyes
Scripture: 2 Kings 6:8-23
NEW! Watch us ONLINE! Click here!
SHOW NOTES:
In today’s lesson, the prophet Elisha is surrounded by the enemy forces, the Aramean army. Fear grips his servant’s heart as he cries out, “What will we do?”
Then he sent horses, chariots, and a strong force there. They went by night and surrounded the city. When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked.
2 Kings 6:14-15
Doubtless Elisha knew about all this, too, but allowed himself to be trapped so that the Arameans’ subsequent entrapment would bring God glory. Elisha reassured his servant not to fear and explained that their unseen spiritual warriors outnumbered the enemy. In response to Elisha’s prayer, the servant’s eyes were opened to behold an innumerable angelic host standing ready to intervene on Elisha’s behalf.
Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So, the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
2 Kings 6:17
The core message is that the invisible forces of protection and power on your side are far greater than any visible obstacle before you. It is a reminder to shift your perspective from earthly panic to spiritual peace!
HEAD TO HEART:
In this lesson from 2 Kings 6, the Lord reminds us of the unseen spiritual realm. Elisha and his servant saw the fiery chariots and realized that God’s supreme power, divine intervention, and safety were all around them, even amid enemy forces. Lord, open our eyes and help us trust in Your divine and holy purpose.

Season 23: Angelology | #1 – God’s Messengers
NEW! Watch us ONLINE! Click here!
SHOW NOTES:
Today, Walk with God begins a new season – Angelology. Angels are God’s messengers. They are created beings, and we are not to worship them. Jesus acknowledged their existence and spoke about them during His earthly ministry.
“Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?”
Matthew 26:53
Angels are mentioned in 34 books of the Bible, more than 275 times. The most common Hebrew word for “angel” in the Old Testament is מַלְאָךְ (mal'akh). The most common Greek word for “angel” in the New Testament is ἄγγελος (angelos).
Angels are supernatural, celestial beings who serve as intermediaries between the divine and humanity. They act as messengers, guardians, and warriors of God’s will.

Season 22: Abide | #8 – Reciprocal Abiding
SHOW NOTES:
NEW! Watch us ONLINE! Click here!
God invites believers to “Abide” by immersing ourselves in His Word. It is His desire for each of us to walk in the same way Jesus walked. We are Christ’s followers, and these words apply to each of us.
If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.
1 John 4:12
When we abide in God’s Word, we experience guidance by the Spirit. The Spirit’s job is to take the truths about Jesus and make them known to us. He is our helper, teacher, and constant companion.
By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world.
1 John 4:13-14
This reciprocal abiding – we abide in Him, God in us – is the fullest expression of fellowship with God. This is only possible through the gift of His Spirit, by whom the relationship with the Father and the Son is sealed eternally.
When we abide in God’s Word, we deepen our relationship with Him. We abide in Him! And He abides in us.

Season 22: Abide | #7 – Imitate Jesus
SHOW NOTES: In this season of Walk with God, we are looking at Jesus’ command for His disciples to “Abide in Me.” John 15 records Jesus’ words to the disciples in the Upper Room before His betrayal in the Garden of Gethsemane. These words apply to our lives today. We are Christ’s followers, and this instruction applies to each of us.
NEW! Watch us ONLINE! Click here!
But whoever keeps His word, in Him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in Him: whoever says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same way in which He walked. 1 John 2:5-6 (ESV)
This is God’s intention for believers that they …
· “Abide” by immersing yourself in His Word
· “Allow” Jesus’ words to saturate your mind
Returning to our key passage in John 15, we find clear instruction in Jesus’ words.
“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7
“If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.” John 15:10
“You are my friends if you do what I command you.” John 15:14
Are you beginning to see that you can’t do this on your own? We are utterly dependent on God to live the Christian life because it isn’t merely holding to a subjective set of moral principles. Jesus set the example for us and invites us to “Abide in Me.”
