As I listen to the words, I realize that it is precisely WITH FAITH that we are called to look upon the world...

Not the faith of what our eyes show us, but the Faith of what is beyond this world, of what is in our hearts, what is eternal, what is forgiven, what is Truth, what is Love.

It is the call to go there, to let go of the shore of what we think we know, and to rest in all that is Love and where all in answered.

There are many similarities between pilgrimage and the labyrinth. In fact, in times when pilgrims could not walk to sacred sites (be they Santiago de Compostela, Rome or Jerusalem), they were encouraged to walk the labyrinth as a symbolic means of journeying inwards.

In this Zoom presentation to the Cathedral Labyrinth Guild, I share the story of my pilgrimage from Rome to Jerusalem with Alberto Agraso, and the lessons learned from the inner journey that parallels walking the labyrinth.

Mony and Alberto begin the journey home, stopping first in The Netherlands to see their pilgrim friend Johanna who had encouraged Mony to follow the call to Jerusalem. Mony would finally understand the meaning of the signs she had faithfully followed: the eagle, six-sided star and John.

Chapter Fifty Four - Ithaca

Mony is unsure of her next steps, disillusioned that the City of Peace that had called her was not revealing the answers. Alberto's quest is decidedly more mystical, as he explores the world of Ascended Masters and ancient wisdom teachers.

Chapter Fifty Three - Jerusalem

On December 24, 2002, Mony and Alberto arrive in the Old City of Jerusalem!

They learn that Bethlehem is serendipitously open to pilgrims celebrating Christmas Eve, and so spend that holy night in Bethlehem.

Chapter Fifty Two - The Holy Land, an inner journey

Mony and Alberto finally enter the Holy Land, and begin walking from Haifa, Jerusalem tantalizingly in sight. They decide to carry their sign for peace in this emotionally charged land... but the letters fall off. What could it mean?

Chapter Fifty One - The Wizards Fail

Mony and Alberto arrive in Cyprus, en route to Tel Aviv. Alberto is pulled aside and interrogated by border police who want to know why he has a stamp in his passport from the "Turkish Cyprus".

Mony and Alberto arrive at the Lebanese-Israeli border, the final crossing separating them from their destination; but they are not allowed to cross. They try to remain hopeful, even as option after option closes to them, and to be attentive to the signs that have always guided them.
