Podcast Description
Youth sports are supposed to be good for our kids. They build character, teach competition, create friendships, and—most importantly—should be fun.
But what happens when sports begin consuming the time and attention that should belong to our families?
In this episode of the Walking Narrow Podcast, we take an honest look at the youth sports epidemic and the growing pressure to do more: more practices, more games, more travel teams, more camps, more private coaching. What starts as a good opportunity for our kids can slowly become an all-consuming commitment that leaves families with less time around the dinner table, less time together, and less room for the things that matter most.
We explore why parents get caught up in it—from living vicariously through our kids to fear of missing out—and ask some uncomfortable questions: Are our priorities actually reflected in how we spend our time? What are we giving up for sports? Are we leading our families, or are our kids and their activities setting the agenda?
Sports aren't the enemy. But as men and fathers, we have a responsibility to recognize when something good has become too much.
Because our kids won't remember every practice or tournament. And ultimately, we're not raising them to be great athletes. We're raising them to become good, godly, productive adults.
The question is: Are we protecting the time we have with them to help make that happen?
It’s easy for marriage to become routine. Work, kids, chores, schedules, and responsibilities can slowly turn a husband and wife into nothing more than co-parents and roommates. But your relationship with your wife is worth intentional investment.
In this episode of Walking Narrow, we talk about how men can intentionally strengthen their marriages—whether you're single and preparing for marriage, currently married, or navigating life after divorce. We cover three practical challenges for married men: truly listening to your wife, creating intentional time together, and telling her how much you love and appreciate her.
We also talk about the importance of choosing a spouse who shares your faith, why your marriage needs to survive beyond the years of raising children, and how divorced fathers can take the high road and protect their children from the baggage of divorce.
Your wife shouldn't have to wonder whether she's valued. Make the relationship intentional. Listen. Spend time together. Tell her what she means to you.
Marriage doesn't stay strong by accident. It takes intentionality.
In this episode, we discuss the value of meekness, why it is not what you've been led to believe and why it's something all men should embrace.
In this episode we discuss how the accomplishments we pursue fade very quickly. We help men see a long term view of success focused on an appropriate view of "why", small, consistent wins, long term perspective, and selflessness.Join us on this journey to grow into the men we are called to be!- https://narrowgatecollective.org - Newsletter- X: @NarrowGateCo
