Oh my, there's so much going on in our world, and so often there seems to be injustice, unfairness, corruption, deceit, and normal people, like you and me, wonder if senior leaders will ever be held accountable. I wonder if you've ever faced a situation where you had the opportunity for revenge against someone who had harmed you in the past and had not been called to account? What did you do? Let's rejoin a remarkable scene happening in Egypt, during a time of terrible famine, which has brought starving people seeking help from Egyptian storehouses full of grain, thanks to the good planning of Joseph.

 I wonder if sometimes you feel nearly overwhelmed as you consider the very complex issues facing world leaders in our time? Climate change, COVID, millions of refugees, war in many places, terrorism, famine and poverty, crime and leadership corruption. Oh my such great challenges, but then again, that's not new is it? We've been following the story of  Joseph and yesterday we were amazed at how God led him to form a nation wide strategy for Egypt to survive 7 years of terrible, region wide famine.

 Thanks to global communications, in our lifetime we have been able to watch history being made in almost every country of the world. We've watched leaders come and go, governments topple and new ones formed. We've watched great corporations succeed and others fail into bankruptcy and the same for country economies. We've seen great advances made in medical care, business innovation, space travel, and sadly, also military hardware sophistication. I wonder what stands out to you as particularly significant when you consider the great events of your lifetime?

 I wonder what the most surprising, shocking, wonderful thing is... that has ever happened in your life?  We've been following the remarkable account of Joseph in Genesis, seeking to learn important life lessons that will help us live life well. Yesterday I left you in the throne room of the most powerful man in the world, the Pharaoh of Egypt. He'd had two dreams which had deeply troubled him and he sought their interpretation from his wise counselors and even magicians, but no one could explain the dreams. But then Joseph was brought up out prison, cleaned up, and brought to the Pharaoh for the purpose of explaining the dreams. He told the Pharaoh "I cannot do it, but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires."

 I wonder what your dream life is like? How often do you dream as you sleep? What types of dreams do you have? Do they frighten you? Do your dreams have significance to you? What's the difference between a dream and a nightmare to you? We're traveling with Joseph and yesterday we concluded our time watching a remarkable scene. The most powerful man in the world at that time was the Pharaoh of Egypt. He was frightened by dreams he had which no one could interpret for him. He was evidently a superstitious leader feeling perhaps the spirits were trying to communicate with him, so he had inquired of his magicians and sorcerers but none could explain his dreams.

  When someone says they have experienced God's Blessing, I wonder what you think? Have you been greatly blessed by God at some memorable point in your life? When was it, how did it happen and how did it affect you? In our journey through the Bible, we've been traveling with Joseph lately. Yesterday we left him in an Egyptian prison where he'd been thrown by his boss (slave owner) Mr. Potiphar. Joseph had been falsely accused by Mrs. Potiphar of what we would today call 'sexual harassment'. She had been seducing Joseph daily, and he consistently refused her advances and even her overt appeal that he come to bed with her. Finally she became angry and framed him. Her husband flew into a rage when hearing her lies and even though he had trusted Joseph with everything he had, Mr. Potiphar had Joseph imprisoned.

 I wonder what serious 'temptation' is for you? May I give you three examples and let's see which one stirs something in you? * You see a wallet sitting on the ground under a park bench. When you open it there's lots of money, and credit cards. What do you, with the wallet? * You're on a strict sugar-free diet and friends invite you for afternoon tea, but on their tea tray are some delicious looking pastries, fresh from the oven, but loaded with sugar. What do you do?  * You're alone in the house, on your computer looking for some of the latest sports news on the internet and suddenly a pop-up advertisement comes up with a beautiful woman in a tiny bikini and an invitation. What do you do?  Temptation is something we all face everyday and God wants to help us remain honorable, ethical, pure.

 You and I live in a deceit filled world, no matter where we live, am I right? Sometimes that deceit is further complicated by 'cover-up' and the result is profound heartbreak for people. May I ask, has your heart ever been broken in a deceitful cover-up?  Join me today in one of the most famous cover ups of all time. Yesterday I left you standing with several of Jacob's sons as they had just completed the sale of their younger brother Joseph to a traveling caravan. Did I say SALE? Yes, his brothers actually SOLD Joseph! The caravan travelers bound young Joseph with ropes and dragged him off, going with them to Egypt, where he would be put on the slave trader's block and sold to the highest bidder!

 In recent days it's been very hard for me to watch news reports coming out of Afghanistan, how about you? It's not the first time we've seen uprisings in nations that cause people and families in entire villages or cities to run for safety with only the clothes on their backs and their babies in their arms! But oh, it's heartbreaking isn't it? It's terrible enough when outside invading forces attack a country, but when it's internal, people attacking their own fellow citizens, even their own extended family members, oh my that's so difficult to watch, and it's almost beyond understanding! But it's the reality of our world, isn't it?

 Jealousy can consume someone's heart to the point it can lead them to attitudes, choices and actions that could destroy their reputation and their lives, am I right?  Jealousy can be among the most destructive of all human emotions, and probably you have been wounded by it at one time or another in your life journey.  We've come today to one of the most famous of all jealousy stories in the Bible... Jacob's 'favorite son' Joseph.
