What happens when a season crushes you—but instead of destroying you, God uses the crushing to pour something beautiful out of you?

You may be crushed…but you are not destroyed.

Eric and Patti Lethco have been with us on the podcast several times, and we are honored to have their wisdom, their input, and their example in our lives. They are leading the Massai Pastors Project, an organization that is investing in and equipping pastors and leaders in Tanzania.

Today Eric and Patti talk about the fruit of this ministry. They’re seeing God do things that they could never produce on their own. They’re watching pastors grow, lives change, churches become stronger, and God’s Kingdom advance—and they’ve described themselves almost as the recipients of the blessing of getting to be there and witness what God is doing.

This picture is such a great reminder of the season we are in on the podcast, sometimes we can get so focused on what we are doing for God that we forget that ultimately, He is the One producing the fruit.

We may plant. We may water. We may walk alongside someone. We may say yes and be obedient. But God is the One who brings the growth.

The crushing seasons of our lives can sometimes make us wonder, Is anything good really coming from this? Is there really fruit being produced?

But Eric and Patti are getting to witness what happens when we simply remain faithful and keep walking with Jesus. They are seeing the fruit hanging heavy—evidence of what God has been doing all along.

None of us asks for seasons of pressure, pain, disappointment, or waiting. Yet throughout Scripture, we see that God often does a great healing work in the places that feel the hardest. Just like an olive must be crushed before it produces the valuable oil it was created to carry, God often uses the crushing seasons of our lives to produce something beautiful—greater faith, deeper surrender, stronger character, and may pour out a fresh anointing for His purposes.

We don't pray for suffering or hardship. Yet God often uses those very seasons to produce something that comfort and ease never could. 

He develops perseverance, humility, compassion, wisdom, deeper faith, and a greater dependence on Him.

The crushing isn't meant to destroy us; it's meant to reveal what God has placed within us through His Spirit.

The olive isn't valuable because it avoids the crushing. It's valuable because the crushing releases what was inside it all along.

This Isn't Good... But God, You Are

This is a conversation about faith that rises above circumstances and a hope that is anchored in Christ.

The Cutler's story continues to unfold, but God remains faithful and is holding them close through every step on their journey. And HE wants to do the same for each of us.

Today's episode was originally recorded in August of 2025. Since this recording, The Cutler family has continued to Walk with the Lord through very difficult health challenges. Next week we have a treat because Traci joins Josh at the table to share. Together, they make ONE amazing team.

We pray that as you listen - you are encouraged to take both the big and small steps of faith & obedience, because we know God's peace and His presence truly bring health and freedom to our unfinished stories.

Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." 

Our paths are very different, but we often battle some of the same things: fear and all the what ifs.

We are reminded again this week that we can’t be anxious and grateful at the same time -- so when those fears and what if thoughts begin to invade your mind, remember you can choose to be grateful for the blessings you do see in our life, and it will change your perspective.

We know that gratitude shifts our focus from what we lack to what we’ve been given — His presence, His promises, and His peace. Keeping a positive perspective begins with trusting that God is still working, even in the unseen, and believing that He is using every moment, even the hard ones, to draw us closer and shape us more like Christ.

We all know that life is filled with ups and downs. There are seasons of joy and seasons of hardship. But one thing we can be absolutely certain of is this: our Savior, Jesus Christ, will never leave us or forsake us. He is walking with us every step of the way. He sees what you’re going through, He knows what we’re facing, and what a privilege it is to call on Him and trust Him through it all.

Today we are so blessed to have our friend Juniper with us. The joy of the Lord truly is her strength, and that has been evident to everyone who knows her.
